THE ROK’S RULES FOR BEING A
GENTLEMAN
Hey y’all!
Brian Littrell here. Normally you’d find me over at Langley, but
Kevin Richardson, head honcho over at HimTak, whom I’ve been known to work with
from time to time, recruited me for a special project, and I’m happy to help. Agent K, as you call him, runs a tight
organization over there. He has some of
the most highly skilled agents I’ve ever seen working for him, but skills alone
aren’t enough. A true gentleman never
names names, but a few of Kev’s agents could use a
good lesson in manners.
I
didn’t get to be in a top position of the world’s most powerful government
solely because of my training. That will
get you far, it’s true, but if you aren’t well-liked and respected amongst your
peers, you’ll never reach the top.
I was
raised to be a God-fearin’, salt of the earth country
boy, and my momma taught me well. I’ve
known Kevin for years, and he’s every bit the gentleman I am, if not more. (Heh, heh, he’s really a big ol’ softy, if you
can believe that.) But he’s the big boss
man and has to maintain an “intimidating” image, so I guess that makes me the
only man fit for the job.
Well,
there is one other I know of, but since the dissolve of MI5 over in
Well,
that’s enough about me. Why don’t I give
you your first lesson in becoming a true gentleman?
RULE #1
That’s
right, folks; that’s scripture. The Bible’s
actually the greatest resource for anything, and I tend to rely on it a lot. That Matthew was a very wise man, probably a
perfect gentleman. But for those of you
who may not be used to scripture or find the Bible unappealing, the verse can
be summed up in three simple words: THE
GOLDEN RULE. Christian or not,
you should all have heard that before. The
Golden Rule states simply, “Do unto others as you would have them do to
you.” It’s all about respect.
If
you want to be a true gentleman, you’ve got to have respect for others. Respect your elders and your superiors, as
well as those beneath you or less fortunate. We’re all God’s children, so treat people the
way you would like to be treated. Except
the ladies, of course; treat them better than that. Women are a blessed gift to all us poor saps. Treat them like royalty; they truly are a more
superior race.
A
gentleman takes his hat wherever he goes, but don’t forget to hang it up when
you step inside. It’s considered rude
not to. And if you really want to give the ladies a thrill, give it a slight
tip as you pass them. Tipping your hat
on the street is an act of chivalry that you don’t see much anymore, but it
will make a woman feel like a queen every time!
