Chapter 21

It had been a long weekend for Pamela and Amber they were both anxious to find out how it had went with Alex. Pamela looked out the window in her room, just admiring the buildings surrounding Baylor. She closed her eyes and just let her mind fly through her childhood. Everything flashed through her mind, her father, mother, and sister all flashed through her memory too. She remembered the trips to Mexico every summer to spend time as family. God she really missed those days when all that mattered to her was playing and day dreaming on silly things. Now here she was a grown woman with a daughter and yet now she felt vulnerable to everything, like her Knight or protector wasn’t here to protect her anymore. Her father was his protector always there to make everything ok. She was happy but, she still couldn’t help to feel guilty. She would go home soon, yet she didn’t know if she could stay in the house she grew in. Something made her feel unworthy of ever staying in that house any longer than needed. She needed to find a place to stay at soon. She turned around and was surprised to see Denise McLean staring at her.

“Sorry, if I scared you dear but I didn’t mean to disturb you. I just wanted to talk to you.”

“It’s ok Mrs. McLean; I just didn’t expect anyone at this time.” She took a seat on her bed while she watched the woman that had given birth to Alex sit in the chair.

“I just want to thank you Pam. You don’t know what this has done to Alex and his self esteem. You know he really loves you Pam, you and him deserve to be happy. I still remember the day I met you and I saw the look on Alex’s face. The one you get when you’re in love and the thing was I saw it on you too. Pam, Alex found something in you that make him whole. I know he won’t like this at all, you know me trying to pair you two up….again. But, this will make my life so much better, to know that he finally is with someone who loves him with heart and soul. Besides think of what it would do for Amber.”

“Mrs. McLean, I don’t know what to say I am flattered to know you’re not mad at me for this. I don’t know what to say. I have always loved your son and not even staying away from him has changed that. That’s why we are giving this a chance; we spoke about it before he left to L.A.” she blushed as she told her this.

“Oh my, that is so wonderful and I can’t believe he didn’t tell me.” She could believe it her son was finally going to try and be happy in all the ways possible. “Pam, dear you can call me Denise, I don’t like the whole Mrs. McLean thing.”

“Ok,” said Pamela as she smiled at her.
