Chapter 25
Lately he couldn’t stop thinking about what his uncle had
told him about Amber’s mother. What if he was right and Amber did the same to
him? He shook his head and tried to concentrate on his project for his US
History class. Amber stopped what she was doing and looked at Rick curiously.
He noticed her staring at him so he also stopped and subtly asked, “Hey, babe
what do feel for me?”
She was a little startled when Rick asked her that but she
shrugged it off and tried to answer in the best possible way. “Well, I really
like you a lot and your looks help it even more. I love the way you treat me
and I feel comfortable around you. Why? How do you feel about me?” She asked as
she took a seat beside Rick.
He smiled at her; maybe he was overreacting to what his
uncle had told him. “Oh, I just wanted to hear it from you. I also like you a
lot and…” he was interrupted by Amber’s cell phone ringing.
“Oh, Ricky I really need to take this call it’s from my new
friend Baylee, you know Brian’s son, my dad’s friend. The one I met at the
wedding, just give me a sec. I’ll tell him to call me later ok.” She walked out
to the hall.
What was that all about? He was talking to her of something
very important and she left him there with the words in his mouth to go talk to
some guy she met at that wedding. His uncle’s words came back to his mind, “she is just like her mother, she will leave
for a famous person son. You deserve
much better.” Was it true? He did
see her get happy when she saw who was calling. He was letting jealousy come
into his heart now and his uncle’s story only made it grow more. He started
getting impatient as he waited for her to come back. Two minutes went by and
nothing she was still not back. That was it for him his uncle was probably
right this Baylee guy she talked about was now her new interest. After all he
was the son of a famous mother and father. Suddenly he grabbed his stuff and
packed it into his back pack. Anger and jealousy boiling his blood as he shoved
everything into his bag, he was about to leave when Amber walked in with a big
grin on her face.
“Sorry, it was just that… What’s wrong? Why are you
leaving?” she asked in an innocent tone in oblivion to what he was up to.
“Nothing’s wrong AMBER, just the fact that I was expressing
my feelings to my girlfriend and instead she left me with the words in my mouth
to talk to some guy she met at some wedding. So I am leaving, that’s all. One
thing I can’t stand Amber is an unfaithful girlfriend and apparently you’re
more interested in some other guy than me. So, that’s it, it’s over maybe that
Baylee guy can make you happier than me! I thought you were better than that
but I was wrong! Who in world names there son BAYLEE anyways?” He walked out of her room slamming the door
behind him. He was too furious to care if anyone heard him. He bumped into
Pamela hard on his way out.

Alex looked again at the house, it wasn’t what he preferred
but he knew Pamela would love it. It was her style and it fit her personality
well. “I’ll take it. When can everything be ready to be signed?” he asked as he
looked at the patio in the back of the house.
“Sir I can have everything ready in a week.”
“Great,” said Alex as he shook the man’s hand. With that he
left, heading to his home, for now anyway. Since coming back from Howie’s
wedding Pamela had asked him to move in and stay in the spare room they had. He
of course would’ve preferred to stay in the same room as her. But, Pamela had
emphasized that wasn’t happening till after they got married. He smiled as he
remembered that glorious day when she said yes to him. He was secretly
preparing everything for the wedding. It was going to be a small ceremony only
family and friends in there future new home. His mother was helping him out
with arrangements as well. He couldn’t
be any happier than now, he finally got his girl and she was everything he
wanted.

“I still don’t understand him, this was not the Ricky I
know mom. He was more different and he hurt my feelings.” She hugged her mother
for support as she began to cry. This was her first break-up with someone and
it was painful. Especially when she did have deep feelings for him, she was
confused with his comment, what did he mean when he told her he thought she was
different?
“Oh, honey,” she hugged her daughter not knowing exactly
what to tell her. “Just cry honey, cry till you have no more tears.” She knew
this was her first break up and she was bound to feel this way. She wanted to
go up to this boy and let him know that he had jut lost a great or the best
girl he could ever had. “He doesn’t deserve you honey if can’t trust you. There
will be a better person out there for you, I promise honey.”
“I just feel so bad mom. Now I don’t even have a date for
prom.” She was sad, she did like Ricky but, she also had dignity and she was
going to get over him too. She wasn’t going to let that ruin the rest of her
senior year or her prom. She liked him a lot but if he was going to be jealous
of her and the friends she made maybe it was better for them to break up. “Mom,
your right I don’t need him either,” she wiped her face and took a seat on her
bed.

He walked right through the big office and walked straight
to his uncle’s office. He could hear Janie the receptionist come after him, but
she was to slow for him. “Uncle Vick you were…” he closed his mouth quick when
he saw two men with his uncle.
“Come on Ricky have seat out in the waiting area, your
uncle is in a meeting.”
“NO its ok, Janie let him stay,” said Victor as he smiled
at them. He already knew why Ricky was there, he had gotten to him.
Janie closed the door to her bosses’ office and walked back
to her desk. She was curious to the way her boss was acting lately, he just
didn’t look, sound, or acted like the Chief and Editor of this newspaper
company anymore. Always coming to work
drunk and actually drinking at work! She just sighed and returned to her daily
routine.
