Chapter 10

The Backstreet Boys didn't say a word. All five of them shocked. The sirens were pretty distant. It gave their captors plenty of time to kill them. Chris, Jack, Craig, Rob, and Charlie were loading bullets into guns quickly.

Kevin turned to Brian, Nick, Howie, and A.J., and motioned for them to run to the door. Kevin ran as fast as he could, his band mates close behind him. Howie was only on the first step when he received a bullet to his right shoulder. Rob quickly aimed, his only goal being to destroy the lives of the five young men. Howie let out a cry tumbling to the ground. Nick was the first to react, darting to where Howie lay.

Rob aimed the gun straight at Brian. Brian let out a scream of pain, as the bullet entered his stomach. Gasping, wanting nothing more then for someone to put him out of his misery. Letting out a moan of pain he passed out nearly falling down the stairs. A.J. grabbed his arm, not letting him fall down.

Kevin tried to open the door, wanting help desperately for his injured friends. All to quickly Kevin watched, as in slow motion as another gun went off the bullet heading straight for A.J. Kevin wasn't fast enough to get his younger friend out of the way. It hit him full force in his arm, another one sounded striking him in his side. A.J. lost his grip on Brian and they both fell to the floor.

"OH MY GOD," Nick screamed.

It was his turn; Nick closed his eyes preparing for the inevitable. Sure enough the bullet found a spot in Nick's left side.

Kevin clung to the hope that the police would find their way soon. He then fell down the steps, after being shot in the back. He had known it was coming as he tried hard to kick the door open.

The sirens were nearing and the Backstreet Boys' captors needed to be sure they were dead. Quickly Rob shot Nick Howie and Brian once again, before leaving the house.

The police arrived minutes later. Scurrying down the steps to the injured Backstreet Boys. They all lay sprawled out on the floor. Blood oozing from their wounds.

"Oh dear God," one of the policemen said, darting to them.

An ambulance arrived, minutes later. Orders were immediately made for them to be air lifted. Their injuries too crucial, the police were afraid an ambulance wouldn't make it fast enough.

Kevin awoke to find himself in a hospital bed. He closed his eyes in pain, that ripped through his back.

"Kevin, sweetie...you okay?"

"Mom, is...is that you?"

"Yeah honey, it's me."

"Kristen's here to."

"She is...where...where is she?"

"Oh God Kevin," Kristen yelled, entering the room.

Kevin shut his eyes briefly holding his Kristen close to him. When suddenly he remembered everything.

"Oh my God! What happened to the others!"

Kristen or Ann didn't have a chance to answer, his doctor walked in.

"Please someone tell me what happened to my friends?"

"Okay, Mr. Richardson, first I would like to introduce myself and tell you the extent on your own injuries."

Kevin nodded his head.

"I am Doctor Crudel. Kevin you were lucky, very lucky. The bullet came inches away from your spinal cord. It could have left you paralyzed. Luckily it didn't. You'll be sore for a little while. You also suffered from a broken wrist and concussion. The broken wrist and concussion we assume from falling?"

"Uh the wrist, but not the concussion." Looking down at this wrist Kevin finished. "One of the guys, I got whipped in the head with a gun."

Kristen and Ann gasped simultaneously.

"Oh my God Kev, I am so, so sorry," Kristen sobbed. The reality of what her husband had been through quickly set in. "I love you Kevin!"

"Shh baby it's all okay now, it's over."

Looking back up at doctor Crudel, Kevin began to speak.

"My friends what happened to them?"

"Kevin your friends weren't as lucky as you."

"What do you mean?"

"Well they were all shot twice."

Kevin closed his eyes taking in the information he was given. Tears streamed down his face.

"Please just tell me!"

"Okay, okay. Alexander Mclean was shot in both the arm and his right side. He was lucky that no organs were affected. We had to operate to stop some internal bleeding. He lost quite a lot of blood. His family, of course gave blood and he should pull through."

"Thank God."

"Well he still has to wake up. He hasn't yet."

"What about the rest of them? Nick, Brian, Howie?"

"I'm sorry but I am not their doctor." You and Mr. Mclean are my only patients. Glancing down at some papers he had, he read off the names of the doctors.

"Mr. Carter and Mr. Dorough have doctor Vandez and Mr. Littrell required a separate doctor. Doctor Roberts. "I will go see if I can find them for you Kevin."

"Thank you..."

Within a matter of minutes three doctors appeared at the door with grim looks on their faces.
