Chapter 5
Howie Kevin and A.J. walked slowly into the
basement. “Oh my God, we have to do something,” Kevin gasped, panic-stricken.
There was a brief silence before A.J. spoke.
“Guys,” A.J. began. “Do you…think…they’ll…they’ll kill Nick for
trying to run away?”
Howie sat down next to A.J. “Bone, everything will be alright,”
Howie spoke trying to comfort A.J.
“Yeah, everything will be alright” A.J. replied quietly nodding
his head. A.J. closed his eyes, thinking.
“Brian too, they took him! What do you think they will do to him Kev,
Howie,” A.J. asked, the fear evident in his voice.
The three of them exchanged worried glances.
Brian stumbled into the room. He immediately saw Nick tied up
again. Brian ran to him. Before he could get a word out Rob walked in slamming
the door shut behind him.
Nick looked at Brian. His blue eyes wide. Brian looked back at
Nick reassuring. Letting Nick know that he would take care of everything.
Brian slowly stood up. “Listen, Rob, I promise this will never
happen again. I won’t let it. Just let us go and…”
“Save your breath kid,
there’s no way he’s getting out of this one.”
“Please!”
“Shut up,” Rob yelled.
“You heard me kid, he ain’t getting out of this!”
“And you boy,” Rob said looking at Brian.
“No one, not no one, yells at me like that boy. You’ll get yours!”
Rob laughed again and
walked around the room, thinking.
“What shall we do with you?”
“Maybe, just to stay on the safe side we should kill ya!”
Both Nick’s and Brian’s
eyes widened in fear.
“I mean, we don’t need all five of the Backstreet boys. Four is
plenty!”
The look on Nick’s face and
the words that came out of Rob’s mouth were all it took to make Brian snap.
He lodged at Rob attacking him, tackling him to the ground. He
punched Rob swiftly in the mouth. Rob regained his composure fast, knocking
Brian off of him, onto the floor. Brian was quick on his feet, adrenaline
taking over, as he kicked Rob in the head. Rob yelled in pain. He was pulling
himself up as Brian stole a glance at Nick, whose eyes were wide in both shock
and fear. But yet Nick didn’t say a word. Rob threw Brian roughly to the floor.
Brian fought with Rob, struggling to get the large man off of him. Rob punched
Brian in the jaw; Brian gritted his teeth in pain. Still, trying to get Rob off
of him. He somehow managed to get himself up, backing up against the wall. Rob
ran over to Brian punching him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of Brian.
Rob took full advantage as Brian doubled over, pulling him back up punching him
in the mouth. Brian jumped on Rob, catching him off guard. Ron fell to the
floor. Brian punched him in the eye and then the mouth. Rob fought Brian off.
Within seconds Rob was on top of him. He wrapped his large hands around Brian’s
throat laughing, as Brian struggled to breathe. Brian could distantly hear
Nick’s cries. As Brian was nearing oblivion, he brought his hands up to Rob’s,
fighting with all of the strength left in him. In a matter of seconds Brian was
able to pry Rob’s hands off of his throat. As soon as he succeeded, he gasped
for air. Brian coughed, gasped, and finally began breathing heavily. His throat
stung and it hurt to breathe. Brian jumped up running for Nick. He took a few
steps, but slammed to the ground as Rob grasped his leg. Nick winced as Brian
fell to the ground. Tears staining his face as Brian fought to free his leg.
Rob was to strong for Brian, as he, yet again regained his position on top of
Brian. Brian looked up at Rob’s hand to see a knife. It was a small pocketknife,
but it was heading straight for Brian’s throat. Fear struck both Brian and
Nick. The knife was merely an inch away from Brian’s throat. Brian tried as
hard as he could to fight Rob away, but it was no use, the knife still remained
near his throat. Brian had Rob’s arm but Rob was able to knock it away. Having
no other options, Brian brought his knee up swiftly knocking Rob away. Brian
then struggled to sit up, shaking in fear. Rob was mad, very mad. He wouldn’t
take this from his own hostage. He rammed Brian’s head on the cement floor.
Brian’s mind raced. He didn’t have much time to think Rob was slamming his head
back to the floor again. Brian’s vision blurred, but yet he still fought to
stay awake. The third time Brian’s head struck the floor he fell immediately
unconscious. Once satisfied that Brian was out, he stood up, walking towards
the door. Not before kicking Brian in the head twice, just to be safe.
Nick looked up at Rob. His face tear stained. “Please, oh God,
please let me help him.” Rob looked at Nick. He picked up the pocketknife. Nick
watched him, scared to death that Rob would follow through with his plan and
kill him. To Nick’s relief Rob cut the rope that tied back Nick’s hands. Nick
pulled himself up, but was slammed against the wall as soon as he stood.
“You
ever try to run away again, EVER, and I will not only kill you, but you will
watch as I kill your friends bud! I can assure you it won’t be a pleasant
sight.”
Nick nodded quickly. His gaze never leaving Rob’s.
As soon as Rob was out of the basement Nick rushed to Brian. He
took a good look at Brian. Making a mental note of all his injuries. Nick took
off his sweatshirt, crumpling it into a
ball. He then gently lifted Brian’s head resting the sweatshirt under. Nick
then took site at the blood dripping out of his mouth. Nick reacted quickly,
gingerly placing Brian on his side. Nick grimaced as the bruises on his face
already started to form. He then lifted up Brian’s shirt remembering how Rob
punched him in the stomach. A large bruise had already formed. Nick then
stopped. He listened intently for Brian to breathe. He sighed in relief as
Brian took in shallow breaths. They were short, shallow gasps. Nick didn’t care
though, all that mattered was that Brian was okay, he hoped. “Oh God Brian, why
did you do that,” Nick cried. “This is all my fault!” He then rested his head
on the cement floor falling to sleep. Not before saying a brief prayer for
Brian and the others. Praying that they all got out of the horrible situation
they were in, alive.
“They’ve been gone to long,” A.J. informed to the others.
“We know A.J.,” Howie replied.
“Guys, it’s only been about forty-five minutes,” Kevin stated.
“Kevin,” Howie began. “You were only gone for like five minutes,
if that!”
“Oh.”
“I wonder what they’re doing to them.”
“A.J.,” Howie said, making eye contact with him. “Snap out of it!
You have been so dazed since they were taken away! I am beginning to worry
about you!”
“I’m sorry Howie I am just scared to death. I guess I’m letting my
imagination run wild.”
“Yeah A.J. and you are driving yourself nuts!”
“Okay, D., okay! I’ll cool it.”
“The best thing we can do for Brian and Nick and for ourselves, is
to get some rest,” Kevin said rubbing his temples.
