Chapter 15
By Danielle
Melissa's View
"Nick! Over here!" I exclaimed waving my hand in the air. Nick was
off to the side, with his hat over his head, hands stuffed in his pockets,
looking around through the crowd. He looked up and around but didn't see me.
Andrea trailed behind me as I pushed through the crowd. Nick finally saw me.
"Melissa, where have you been? I have been waiting forever. I thought
something might have happened to you," he said rushing over to me and
giving me a hug. I hugged him back and said, "Sorry, Andrea here was
taking her time."
Nick smiled at Andrea and hugged her. Andrea hugged back slightly and smiled
shyly.
"Ready to go?" Nick asked picking up a couple of our bags. Andrea
just nodded and I said, "Yup, where are we going?"
"My house," I said.
"You're house?" I asked kind of surprised.
"Yes, my house, is that OK? I offered to do it, it gets pretty lonely
living alone..."
"Oh, it's completely fine! I just thought I was staying at a hotel or
maybe at Kevin's house or something," I said. Andrea then said, "We
get to stay at YOUR house?"
"Yeah you do," Nick chuckled at the expression on her face.
"Do you live by the ocean?" she asked.
"Yup, I have a boat and everything...maybe I can take ya out
sometime," he said putting his arm over her shoulder. Andrea smiled widely
and said, "This is gonna be so cool!"
I smiled and then said, "Lets go, I'm pretty tired."
Nick nodded and then led us out of the airport and to his car. We all got in
and Nick started down the highway.
"Nick...slow down!" I screeched beside him. He looked over at me and
said, "I'm barely doing 70!"
"Barely? You're zooming past these people!" I said.
"Ya gotta be an aggressive driver my dear. You won't get anywhere being
nice. Don't you know that?"
"Well, no, I have never driven before," I said. He stared at me
shocked and then said, "You have never driven before?"
"That's what I said," I said. He just looked at me with his mouth
open and then looked out the windshield.
"What's so shocking about that?" I asked. He was making it seem like
I committed a crime.
"You're 17...I thought you would have your license or have at least a
little driving experience..."
"I'm sick and in the hospital half the time Nick, how am I supposed to
drive or get my license?" I asked. He looked at me and then thought for a
moment.
"I didn't think about that..." he said. I rolled my eyes and laughed
lightly saying, "You need to think a little bit more."
"Oh be quiet Mel!" he said sticking his tongue out at me. I stuff it
back out and smacked his arm. He smacked my leg back and I just smacked his arm
back. We did this a few more times until Andrea, who was in the back seat,
interrupted.
"Stop! You act like your brother and sister," Andrea whined. We looked
back at her and then Nick grinned at me wriggling his eyebrows, "Maybe we
are and we just don't know it...dun dun dun!!!"
"Weirdo," I mumbled.
"Fish breath," he shot back.
"Blondie!"
"Brunette!"
"Big foot!"
"Small foot!"
"Big Head!"
"Big head? I don't have a big head!" he screeched. I just looked away
trying not to laugh.
"Take it back! Take it back!" he said. Andrea groaned and slumped
back in her seat. The rest of the way to Nick's house Nick and I bickered...it
was pretty fun.
At Nick's House
"Dude! You must have loads of money!" I exclaimed stepping into the
house. Nick set down the suitcases and shrugged, "It's no biggie. I just
look at is as a roof over my head."
"Do you have a pool?" Andrea asked looking around.
"Yeah in the back," he said.
"Awesome! Where's my room?" she asked.
"Andrea, be patient," I said. She looked at me and then went back to
looking through the rooms.
"I'll show you your room," he said. I nodded and picked up some of my
bags. Andrea followed us up the stairs and down the hall.
"This will be your room Andrea," Nick said motioning to the door on
the left.
"And this is your room Mel. That's my room right there," he said
pointing to another door on the left and then to the right.
"I'll let you guys unpack and rest up. Remember I'm going to take you out
driving tomorrow!" he smiled widely at me.
"Do I have to? There's no point!" I whined.
"It'll be fun, now go on and unpack, I don't have all day," he said.
He smiled at me once more and then disappeared down the hall and down the
stairs. Andrea was already in her room and I could hear her rustling around. I
opened my door and walked in. It was huge! The whole wall across the room was a
window. It didn't look out upon the ocean unfortunately. A large bed with baby
blue sheets and pillows was on the right side of the wall. White dressers and a
white desk were also seen. Across from the bed was a large entertainment
system. This is gonna be heaven living in here.
"Wow," I said looking over the room. I grabbed my bags and started to
unpack my things. The whole time I smiled to myself as I put my clothes and
shoes into the drawers and closet. I had a good feeling about staying here with
Nick but I couldn't help but get a weird feeling in my stomach that something
bad might happen. I pushed that thought out of my head and just thought about
the fun things I was going to do while I'm here. Who knows...maybe something
might happen between Nick and I. I smiled at the thought of that. You never
know what might happen.
