Epilogue
Mel put the last of her things into a suit case and looked around.
Was she doing the right thing? She didnt want to leave Nick while he was in the
hospital but she had no other choice, Max had only given her a day to get all
her stuff ready and say good bye. She put one of the pictures of her and Nick
into her suit case and closed it. She knew she was doing the right thing, this
was for Nick. She couldnt stand to see him get hurt again. She picked up her
suit case and walked downstairs. THe horn of the taxi went off as she turned
off the light and walked out the door. THe taxi driver took her suitcase and
put it in the trunk while Mel got in. THe taxi driver got in and looked back at
her in the mirror.
"
Where to ma'am?" He asked as Mel felt her throat grow tight.
"
To Hope Hospital please" She said as he nodded and started to drive away.
Mel looked back at the house and all the memories started to flood back into
her mind. She had to do this, She knew it was the right thing, maybe not for
her but for Nick. The Taxi stopped and the man smiled at her.
"
Can you wait here please? I just have to say good bye to someone" She said
as the taxi driver nodded as she got out. Walking up to the doors of the
hospital, she felt tears build up in her eyes.
'god
help me get the courage to say goodbye' Mel thought as she got onto the
elevator and pressed the 3rd floor button. It was a short ride up to the floor
but to Mel it felt like an eternity just thinking about how Nick would feel. He
would just have to understand this was for him, she had no other choice. She
went slower as she got to Nick's room and she looked in, seeing everyone was
gone and that he was asleep. Mel tip toed into the room as she placed the
envelope down by the clock. She looked at Nick sleeping and smiled slightly.
She ran her fingers through his hair tryin to remember the touch on her hand.
She kissed him lightly and brushed her other hand over his tryin to remember
everything about him.
"
I love you Nick" Mel said as she felt tears start to slide down her
cheeks. She kissed him again softer then the one before and left the room.
'
this is right thing to do, this is the right thing to do' She repeated to
herself as she walked out of the hospital and to the taxi that was waiting for
her.
"
Airport please" Mel said as she got in and the taxi driver drove off.

Nick
opened his eyes as the sun hit him right in the face.
'
stupid ass sun' he thought as he looked over at the clock on the table next to
him. An envelope blocking the view of the numbers. He moved the envelope out of
the way and looked at the clock.
'
only 10:00 am' he thought as he was about to turn over but remember the note
that was in his hand. He saw his name scribbled on the front and noticed it was
Mel's writing. He smiled thinking of Mel. She was everything to him and if he
didnt have her he knew he would just die. He opened up the envelope and started
to read the letter.
Dear
Nick,
Well
how do i say this? First of all please please dont be disappointed with me. But
i went back to chicago with Max. IM soo sorry but i had no other choice. I
couldnt stand to see you hurt and i know if i would of stayed he would of
killed you. I love you so much and I know im only hurting you more, but would
it be worth to die because of me, when you just wanted to love me? It just
wouldnt be fair Nick. I'll be ok with Max, so please please dont worry about me
or come after me. I hope to be back soon and when I return I hope you can
forgive me. I did this for you Nick, not for me. I love you with all my heart
and I always will. I have to get going now. Bye.

felt tears come to his eyes and crumpled up the note. The tears fell down his
cheeks as he thought about everything he had done for her. She was his best
friend, She was his girlfriend, they were gonna take care of the baby together,
he gave her his love and she just played with his heart and tossed it out the
door like an old toy she had gotten tired of. The door open and Leah and AJ walked
in.
"
Get out!!" Nick yelled as AJ was taken a back but Leah knew what had
happened.
"
Nick calm down" Leah said moving closer towards him but he glared at her.
"
Shes gone and shes never coming back! She used me Leah" Nick said holding
up the note and AJ took it from him.
"
Mel didnt use you Nick" Leah said tryin to calm him down.
"
How do you know!" Nick yelled as he started to cry harder.
"
Ive known her almost my whole life and Mel would never do that to anyone!"
Leah said loudly and Nick looked at her while he shrunked down into his bed.
Leah sat down next to him and hugged him. This wasnt how she planned Nick's
reaction to be, sure she knew he would be emotional but not this emotional, he
was trembeling in her hold on him and she suddenly felt guilty she couldnt tell
him anything.
'
god mel look what you done' Leah thought as she felt Nick's breathe go to his
regular breathing and knew he was asleep. She layed him down on the pillow and
Walked out into the hall with AJ.
"
What are we gonna do hes heart broken? HOw could she do this to him, he gave
her everything she ever needed and she dumps him like that without even saying
goodbye" AJ practically yelled as Leah looked at the ground.
"
I dont know AJ, I really dont know" Leah said as she felt her heart break
in two knowing she was gonna have to lie to everyone until Mel came back and
who knows when that would be.
