All the rest of the week, Howie and Kevin spent most of their time at
the hospital, visiting Brian, AJ, Nick, and Angel. By the end of the week, Dr.
Jackson had Brian moved out of intensive care and into a private room on the
same floor as Angel and AJ. She also had him taken off the respirator so he
could talk again. Instead, he was attached to an oxygen tank. He still had some
difficulty breathing, but he was glad to be able to talk to people instead of
having to write everything down.
AJ was still mostly paralyzed. His doctor had put him on some
experimental drugs that were supposed to help stop nerve cells from dying,
which would help AJ regain movement of his body, but so far, the drugs didn't
seem to be working. He had no feeling in his arms or legs and could not move at
all.
Nick remained in a coma. Kevin and Howie were glad Brian was getting
moved out of ICU because they knew it killed him to see Nick so lifeless like
that. They all prayed every day that Nick would wake up and be alright, but as
the days passed by, it looked more and more hopeless.
