Epilogue
One year
later, Brian, Nick, Kevin, Howie, and AJ sat on stools on the stage, bright
lights shining down on them, millions of fans screaming deafeningly.
This was their
first concert since the accident, their "welcome back" concert. They
had performed the entire show and everything had gone perfectly. Now it was
time for their last song.
"Hello,
everyone!" Brian shouted, waving and grinning at the audience. The screams
grew louder. Brian waited until they died down before continuing. "As you
know, this past year has been really hard for us. We've come through a lot
together. At one point, we didn't know whether or not we would all make it
through this ordeal. But we did, and it has made us stronger. Now, we'd like to
sing a song for you that kind of helped us all stay together and get through
this. I'm sure you've heard it before. We used to sing it a few years ago. It's
called "End of the Road"." The audience cheered, but once the
music began, they quieted down, until the arena was almost silent, except for
the music. Tears came to Brian's eyes as he began to sing.
"Although
we've come to the end of the road…"
And they had
come to the end of that road. The ordeal was over, and they were moving on.
