Chapter
33
The next
morning, Katelyn awoke to find herself still in Brian's arms. He was still
sound asleep, snoring slightly, yet looking adorable. She smiled and snuggled
up to him, her head resting against his chest. She lay there, content as could
be, just listening to his deep, steady breathing and the beating of his heart.
After nearly a
half an hour, Katelyn quietly and carefully crawled out of his embrace and got
out of the bed, trying not to wake him up. She went downstairs to the kitchen
and started making a breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon.
When breakfast
was almost done, Brian came downstairs. He snuck up behind her and wrapped his
arms tightly around her.
"Hey,
sweetie," Katelyn said, turning around to kiss him.
"Morning,
baby," Brian said, kissing her back. "You're making breakfast for
me?"
"Yup,"
she replied, flashing him a grin. "I thought it would be a nice surprise
for my fiancée." When she said "fiancée", Brian's eyes lit up,
and he kissed her again.
"Go sit
down at the table, honey," Katelyn said. "Breakfast is almost
ready."
"You sure
you don't need any help?" Brian asked.
"Aw,
you're a sweetheart. But, no, I'm fine. Just go sit down," Katelyn told
him. He smiled and went into the dining room.
Katelyn
finished the pancakes and stacked them onto two plates, along with the bacon.
Then she poured two tall glasses of orange juice and carried everything into
the dining room.
"Wow,
looks good!" Brian commented when she laid his plate down in front of him.
"I'm starved!"
"I'll be
right back with the syrup and butter," Katelyn said. She went back into
the kitchen and returned a few seconds later with syrup and butter.
The food was
delicious, and Brian ate his quickly.
"You're
gonna make a great wife!" Brian declared when he had finished. Katelyn
looked pleased.
"Thank
you, sweetie," she said, blushing.
After
breakfast, they took showers and got dressed. Later that day, they started
calling people to announce their engagement.

Brian and
Katelyn decided they wanted a big, fancy, traditional wedding. They wanted to
get married as soon as possible, but they knew they would need plenty of time
to plan. So, they planned on having it sometime in April, the following year.
They had both thought that April was a perfect month for a wedding. It would be
Spring already, so it would be warm, yet it wouldn't be too hot.
The next few
months were spent planning the wedding. Brian's parents were a big help,
especially Jackie. Normally, the bride's family did most of the planning, but
in Katelyn's case, that would not be possible. She hadn't spoken to her mother
ever since before the court date the year before. She knew the only way her
mother would even know she was getting married was if she heard it in the news.
At first, Brian had wanted everything kept quiet, but eventually, he released
the fact that he and Katelyn were getting married to the media. The media craze
wasn't as bad as when Brian had been engaged to Leighanne. After all, the fans
had experienced all the hype before, so it wasn't as shocking.
Katelyn had a
wonderful time planning the wedding. It was a lot of work, but it was fun too.
