The
crowd cheered wildly again.
“Thanks,”
Ashalyn said, smiling. “Okay, this next
song is another one I wrote shortly after the death of my boyfriend just a few
months ago. It’s called ‘Slowly Dying’.”
The
crowed was silent in solemnity as the song began.
The
four of them sang it perfectly, and when it was over, Ashalyn had tears in her
eyes, as many of the audience members did.
“Okay,
for our last song, we’ll be singing a song I wrote called ‘Through Thick and
Thin’,” Jenna said. “This song is one
about friendship, and I dedicate it to my three best friends, standing right
here with me.”
The
crowd cheered, and the beginning of the song began to play. Ashalyn sang the
first verse.
We were so young,
When we met,
But after all these years,
We still are friends.
I still remember those times,
Of childhood fun,
Slumber parties, makeovers,
And it’s only begun.
Then,
they sang the chorus.
Cause we are friends,
Forever,
And we’ll always,
Be together.
We are friends
To the very end,
We will stick together,
Through thick and thin.
Jenna
sang the next verse.
Whenever I was down,
You were there to cheer me up.
A shoulder to lean on,
And a great friend to hug.
I hope that I can do for you,
What you’ve done for me.
You’ve helped to change my life,
And mold the person I’ve come to be.
They
repeated the chorus again, and then Serena took the bridge.
I hope we’ll always stay this way,
And never drift apart.
‘Cause I know without you in my life,
I’d be missing a part of my heart.
Finally,
they repeated the chorus a few more times, ending the song.
Cause we are friends,
Forever,
And we’ll always,
Be together.
We are friends
To the very end,
We will stick together,
Through thick and thin.

Thick and Thin” Ó 2000 by Julie Lewis
“Thanks
guys,” Elyssa called when they wild cheers of the audience died down.
“We’ll
be seein’ ya’ll soon. Thanks!” Jenna
called.
“Thank
you guys!” Ashalyn called.
“Bye!”
Serena yelled, waving one last time to the crowd.
They
all waved and hurried off the stage, breathless.
