Chapter
33
“I’m hungry,” announced Elyssa, scooting off the bed.
“Where
you going?” AJ asked, not looking away from the TV screen. “We got food in here.”
“I
know, but I need some candy. I saw a
vending machine right down the hall. Be
right back,” Elyssa quickly explained, heading out the door.
Elyssa
stepped out into the hall and glanced down it to make sure there really was a
vending machine there. But before she
could spot it, her eyes were drawn to something else. A couple making out further down the
hall. Elyssa’s eyes widened in surprise
as she realized it was Brian and Ashalyn.
Silently,
Elyssa crept back into the hotel room, closing the door as quietly as possible.
“What’sa
matter?” Serena asked, looking at her in confusion.
“Oh
my gosh, you’ll never guess what I just saw in the hall!” Elyssa gushed, her
eyes flashing with excitement.
“What?”
Serena asked, quickly getting caught up in Elyssa’s enthusiasm.
“Brian
and Ashalyn… were making out down the hall!” Elyssa announced dramatically.
Serena
squealed, bouncing around on the bed and nearly knocking Howie off of it.
Nick
and AJ tore their eyes from the TV to stare at Elyssa in wide-eyed surprise.
“Well,
it’s about time,” Nick finally said, chuckling.
“Oh,
I know!” Elyssa agreed. “Those two need
each other.”

Kevin
rolled out of bed, sighing heavily in annoyance. He had been the first to retire to his own
hotel room and had planned on getting some sleep, but it didn’t look like that
was possible now. He had almost been
asleep when a loud shriek and a bunch of thumping around from AJ’s room next
door had jerked him awake.
Now
he heard laughing and more thumps. “Good
God, what are they doing in there?” he asked aloud, rolling his eyes.
Without
a further thought, he stepped out of his room and into the hall. He started down the hall, heading for AJ’s
door, when he stopped suddenly. There,
towards the other end of the hallway, stood Brian and Ashalyn, wrapped in each
other’s arms, kissing.
Kevin’s
green eyes widened in surprise.
Everyone, including he, knew that Brian and Ashalyn would make a great
couple, but he never thought they would actually hook up anytime soon. He had thought wrong.
He
started to turn back, not wanting to interrupt them, but the sound of Brian’s
voice calling his name stopped him.
“Hey
Kev,” came Brian’s slightly sheepish voice from down the hall.
“Uh,
hey, Bri,” Kevin called back. He watched
as Brian took Ashalyn’s hand and led her down the hall with him to meet Kevin.
Kevin
looked down at his younger cousin and the girl standing next to him. They both looked slightly embarrassed, but
euphoric at the same time.
“So,
uh… I guess you guys are finally together, huh?” Kevin asked finally.
“Yup,
I guess so,” Brian replied, grinning.
“Hey, wait a minute – what do you mean ‘finally’?”
Kevin
shrugged, replying, “We all figured it would happen sometime.”
Ashalyn
laughed, her cheeks turning pink. “Was
it that obvious?” she asked.
Kevin
just smiled. He was truly happy for
them. He just wanted Brian to be happy
again, and he knew that Ashalyn was just the person to help him do that.
