“Hello?”
“Hi, Ash, it’s me, Jenna,” came Jenna’s voice over the
phone.
“Jen!” Ashalyn exclaimed.
“Hey! How are you?”
“Pretty good. I’m
going home,” Jenna replied.
“Really? That’s
great!” Ashalyn cried. “When?”
“Tomorrow,” Jenna replied.
“Oh, Jen, that’s awesome,” Ashalyn said. “I can’t wait to see you. What time will you get here?”
“Well… actually, I’m not coming back to Atlanta,” Jenna
replied slowly.
“Oh? How come?”
Ashalyn asked.
“I’m moving in with Nick.”
“Nick? And your
parents are letting you?” Ashalyn asked in disbelief. Jenna’s parents had always been pretty
old-fashioned and strict, especially her mother. Ashalyn couldn’t believe they would let Jenna
live in Florida with her boyfriend.
“Yeah. They’re not
happy about it, but they’re letting me.
They like Nick okay, and plus, I’m eighteen. There’s not much they could do anyway,” she
replied.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Ashalyn said. “I’m gonna miss you, Jen.”
“I’ll miss you too, Ash,” she agreed. “But we’ll all get together a lot. The whole group of us, hopefully. I mean, how could we not? Lyssa and Rena are gonna want to see their
men too.”
“Yeah,” Ashalyn said.
“They already miss them.”
“I bet. That’s why I
don’t want to go home to Atlanta. I
couldn’t stand being without Nick.”
Ashalyn had to smile.
“I’m so glad everything worked out between you two,” she said. “I wasn’t sure at first, but you guys make a
great pair.”
“Yeah, I know,” Jenna said.
“I wasn’t sure at first either, but I am now. I love him, Ash. I never expected to, but I do. More than I ever could love AJ.”
“That’s good.
Especially since AJ and Elyssa are so in love. Nothing could break those two up,” Ashalyn
said.
“I know. They’re so
cute together,” Jenna agreed.
Ashalyn smiled again, feeling happier than she had in a
long time. It seemed that her life was finally
back on track, and everything was good again.
She was finally getting over Mike’s death, and with Brian as her new
boyfriend, she was learning to love again.
The previous love triangle that had threatened the
relationships of the two groups earlier were finally completely gone, replaced
by four couples who were happy together.
It all seemed perfect.
And it was. But things would not
stay perfect for long.
