Chapter
9
The first few weeks after Brianne came home from the hospital were
hard. Brian and Alexa adored their new daughter, but they barely slept anymore.
She would wake up and cry in the middle of the night, and Alexa would have to
get up and breast-feed her. The guys postponed the rest of their shows. They
knew Brian didn't want to go off and leave his family. They also knew their
fans would understand. They rescheduled the rest of the tour for the next month,
giving Brian a month at home. He would have to go back on tour for a few weeks,
but after that, they planned on taking a long break. That way, Brian could
spend more time with Brianne.

Brian was reluctant to go off and leave Alexa and Brianne, but Alexa
assured him they'd be fine. So he went back on tour with the guys, promising to
call her everyday.
He kept his promise. The tour only lasted another month. Brian was glad
when it was over. He loved performing, but not when he had a newborn at home.
***
Over the next few months, Brian spent all of his time at home with his
family. He watched as Brianne smiled and laughed for the first time. He fed and
changed Brianne whenever Alexa was busy. He spent most of his time playing with
her. Brian was trying to be the best father in the world.

When Brianne was six months old, Alexa thought they should get a family
portrait done. She and Brian took Brianne to a professional photographer to get
the picture done.
It turned out perfectly. In the picture, Brian and Alexa sat together
on a white loveseat, holding Brianne, who was dressed in a white dress with a
white, lacy bonnet. The background was light blue. It was a beautiful picture,
and when they got it home, Alexa hung it on the living room wall, where it
would remain for years to come, a memory of that time when all was perfect.
