Too Perfect

Chapter 1:  The Beginning

I couldn’t believe how incredible my life was.  I had absolutely everything I wanted and couldn’t be happier.  But my little plastic bubble of joy couldn’t last forever, one day it popped.  Now, that is a day I’ll never forget.  But I’m getting a little ahead of myself so let me start at the beginning.

It was a bright, beautiful summer day.  The kind of day where you wake up on the right side of the bed and feel as though you are full of life, ready to take on anything.  The kind of day where the birds are chirping and the sun’s rays dance through your window.  This was the type of day that everyone lives for.

I woke up on this beautiful morning to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking in the kitchen.  I made my way downstairs figuring that Howie was making everyone breakfast, as he had every morning since our vacation began.  I entered the room.

“Brian?” I questioned, utterly surprised.

There he was scrambling eggs on the stove.  Brian never cooked and if he ever did it usually turned out to be an incredible disaster.  I’ll never forget the day when he somehow managed to blow up the stove back in our house in Orlando!  The tabloids went wild with that one.  But he just smiled his sweet smile and said, “I thought I’d give Howie the day off.”

Howie laughed from the kitchen table, “Don’t worry, Elyssa, I’m keeping a close eye on him and Kevin is getting the fire extinguisher from the shed.”  Brian sighed rolling his eyes, “You guys have no faith in me.”  I just smiled and gave my boyfriend a kiss on the cheek.

“Want any help?” I asked him.

He shook his head, so I joined Howie on the table with my customary morning glass of orange juice.  Well if you hadn’t already guessed it, I was on vacation with the musical pop group the Backstreet Boys.  They were taking a break from their grueling months of touring to get a little R&R.  Brian and A.J. had also taken along their girlfriends.  Who happened to be myself and A.J.’s girlfriend, Anita Robinson.  We were all staying in very large cottage, in fact it was more like a lodge, in the interior of British Columbia, Canada in the Rocky Mountains.  The mountains were beautiful and it was a great place to relax.

The smell of food had apparently awoken Anita and A.J. as they came downstairs to join us.  Anita was 5’ 8” with incredible white blond hair.  It was totally natural, not a touch of bleach or dye had ever touched it.  She wore it to her shoulders and was one of the skinniest people I knew.  But in a good way, she didn’t look anorexic or anything.  Anita’s twenty-one years old.  I, myself am 5’ 2” (yea, I know I’m short, please refrain from the height jokes) and have really short spiky brown/blonde hair.  I’m twenty-three and have been good friends with Anita ever since we were little kids.

We grew up in Vancouver, B.C. and it was by total chance that we met the boys.  We were vacationing in Florida a little over a year ago and decided one night to get a burger at McDonald's before heading to the movies that evening.  And, to our total surprise and delight, we ended up in line behind none other than A.J. McLean and Nick Carter.  I still remember A.J. was ordering a Big Mac when Anita practically went into convulsions.  We had been fans of theirs for quite awhile.  Apparently A.J.’s love for MaDonald's had worked in our favor.  Anita thankfully regained her composure, because I was so dumbstruck I couldn’t even move let alone talk to them!  I mean we had just been joking around about how funny it would be if we actually ran into them.  And then it happened.  Talk about a dream come true.  Well, Anita turned into the regular old flirt she was and relentlessly worked her charms on A.J.  That evening we ended up watching Titanic with them.  It was the beginning of a friendship.

Brian and I hit it off immediately.  He is the sweetest guy that I know.  I love him more than anything.  It is like we fit together like a hand in a glove.  He’s more of a goof and playful and I’m a little more serious.  In a way we kind of level each other out.  We compliment each other I think.  And it just works.  We’ve been going out for almost a year now!  I now live in Orlando, Florida.  Not just because that’s where my honey lives, but because the BSB offered me a job.  That is the other part of my life that is just great.  I am in charge of their official website.  It’s great, I get to go on tour with them.  I give the fans backstage stories, take pictures at each concert for the site, answer e-mails and stuff.  It makes the fans feel as though they are on a more personal level with the guys.  That’s probably the only reason the fans accept me as Brian’s girlfriend, because I give them all the insider info.  I am now affectionately known as the Backstreet Diva!  It’s cool.  But enough of my trip down memory lane.
