Chapter 10
Christine was confused, the conversation she had with Alex
confused her so much. But, what could she do? Nothing, she could not turn her
back on him. Alex still had a special place in her heart and for that she
couldn’t deny him her help. So, now she had to act like she knew all along that
he had a daughter. She had to admit that Alex looked happier in a way; she knew
it was because he now knew that he was a father. It made her happy to see him
happy right? It didn’t matter she was not Mrs. McLean anymore she was free to
do what she wanted. Still something in his eyes told her that this Pamela girl
is still special to him, was that why she and him never made it? Had he settled
for her but always had hopes to see this girl again? She shook her thoughts away because it did
not matter she and Alex were no longer an item. And she was ok with it right?

Amber was a
total wreck she couldn’t get a grip on her emotions. She felt incomplete and
mad about this situation. One she might loose her mother, her confidant and her
best friend. Two she was mad well, beyond mad because her mom and she were
going to talk about her father that day. But instead this happens was this a
sign that she should stop asking about him or that she was meant to be
fatherless? She felt horrible and heartless, her mother was dieing and all she
thought about was about her father. She wiped her eyes as she walked into the
room her mother was in. She looked horrible bruised up on the face and
scratches on her hands. She let out her sobs and took a seat near her just
looking at her mother. She was interrupted by her aunt Gracie coming in.
“Hey,
sweetie could I talk to you?” She waited by door as Amber made it to her.
Walking out the room where her sister lay fighting for her life, she took Amber
into her arms letting her know that she could count on her. Once in the hallway
she spoke again, “Amber I have to tell you that before your mom went to a coma
I was able to talk to her and well she asked me to tell you “everything”. What
I am trying to say is she wants you to know who your father is. Remember when
she told she was leaving to Mexico for a week to finish off the sale of your
house?”
“Yeah I
remember, but what does that have to do with me knowing everything?” said Amber
as she looked at her aunt questionably.
“Well
actually she went to see your father. She spoke to him about you; see he didn’t
know that your mom was pregnant by him. They had set a date for you two to meet
but, then this happened and changed the plans. I had no choice than to call him
to let him know about the accident and now he’s on his way here. Just to let
you know there is a very good reason to why your mom didn’t tell him she was
pregnant but I think that he should tell about it. I just want you to know that
Pamela was confused when she found out she was pregnant and she did what she
thought was right. Amber your mother loves you with all heart and I know that
she didn’t want anything to harm you…just like now she would give her life for
you.”
Amber
couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her father didn’t know she existed and
now he’s coming to see her or her mother? She looked at her aunt with confusion
and anger as she spoke once more. “What’s his name?”
“Alexander James Mclean but for many years he
was called AJ. But everyone close to him calls him Alex. I…I know that you’re
confused and mad Amber but once you here the thing out you’ll understand I
promise.” She gave Amber another hug and started to cry she just hoped her
sister would come back soon. For so many years she kept all her feelings hidden
but now she wanted her sister come back so she could tell her everything. All
these feelings were killing her inside and somehow she thought that by telling
Pamela she would feel better. She was also worried to see Alex again what if
her feelings for him came back? She stopped her thoughts from bothering her
again when she heard Amber speak again.
“Thanks
auntie for the information I just need to be alone for a little while I am
going to take a walk. If anything happens while I’m out give me a call ok.” She
wiped her tears and walked away….
