Chapter 3

"Nick, dude you have GOT to get off the phone!" AJ said storming into Nick's dressing room backstage and throwing himself down on the couch beside where Nick was sitting.

"What's all the commotion?" Brian asked. He'd been headed towards the stage when he'd heard AJ yelling at Nick down the hall.

"Oh nothing Bri... it's just Frick over here refuses to hang up the phone and he's been on there for HOURS!"

Nick calmly took the phone away from his ear ignoring AJ and looked over towards where Brian stood, "I'm talking to Grace," he said as if it made all the difference in the world.

"Ah, I see," Brian nodded giving AJ a look that said, "Have a little compassion man," before turning back to Nick and replying, "Tell her I said hello and I love her."

Nick put the phone back up to his ear and relayed Brian's message.

"She loves you too."

AJ groaned and rolled his eyes at the pair of them, shooting a look at Nick and spitting, "I love her too you know, but don't blame me when the fans get ticked off because we're an hour late to our own frickin' show!" And with that he stood up and walked out the door as Nick shot him the finger behind his back.

Brian laughed at Nick and turned to walk out the door himself but stopped short turning and saying, "Nick... we really do have a concert to put on you know."

Nick shot Brian a finger too and laughed. "I'm on my way."

He put the phone back to his ear for the third time in about five minutes.

"You still there babe?"

"Of course!"

"Well, I have a feeling if I don't get off here and out on stage you'll have to find a new fiance."

He listened for a few moments as she told him she loved him and that she missed him and they said their goodbyes. He hated telling her goodbye. He hung up the phone and put the finishing touches on his wardrobe before heading out of his dressing room to meet the guys backstage. Once there he handed his phone off to Howie's wife Leigh as he had every night for the past four weeks. It had become the ritual so that it was never unattended. He didn't want to take any chances.

He couldn't wait to get home and hold her in his arms again. Just two more weeks... two more weeks.
