Chapter 22

Josh's View
"How much longer does she have doc?"
Dawn asked as we got more bad news about Melissa.
"Unless they find the cure in the next few days, shes going to pass on
from complications," He said in a serious tone.
"You sound optimistic about this," My mom said in a curious tone,
like something was up.
"They think they have found the cure, but have to do more tests on it.
But I am going to he honest with you all, that if it doesn't happen in
the next few days for her, shes not going to make it," He said as
his tone got serious again.
"Thanks for everything doctor," My mom said standing up and shaking
his hand. I sighed knowing there was a slight chance that the cure will
come in time, but every passing moment she slips away even more.

Down the Hall
Andrea's View
"Mom I want to go down and see her,"
I said as I was getting dressed. They were discharging me today,
but I wanted to go see Melissa.
"Hunny shes not doing too well," My dad said walking back in the room
after I got finish.
"Dad I don't care! I want to go see her," I snapped back
sitting back down on the bed.
"Ok Andrea you are free to go. She will need to check back in with
her doctor back home, but as far as we can see she is cancer free and can be
declared in remission," The doctor said walking in and hadning some
papers to my parents. They scribbled their signature down on some and we
headed out. They finally gave in to letting me go see Melissa. I didn't
care what state she was in, I had to go see her.
Meanwhile....
Down In Melissa's Room
Dawn's View
"Nick how are you doing?" I
asked after breaking the silence that had been hushed around the room.
"I am ok. Any change in her condition?" He asked looking
over at me from Melissa's bedside. Mel had told me about them becoming
close and it was hard seeing him like this.
"They doctor said shes not getting better. Thats all I have been
hearing," I said as a tear slipped down my cheek just thinking
about it.
"ANDREA! What are you doing here?!" Nick suddenly asked.
I turned around and saw Melissa's friend walking in with her parents.
"I got discharged today, I wanted to come down and see Melissa
before my parents and I went back to the hotel," She said with her
smile fading. I felt bad for her cause she saw her collapse over and I
couldn't see it happen knowing that might have been her last breath. But
she seemed to be holding up pretty well. I smiled when she told us that
she was in remission with her cancer, but she keeps saying that the same would
happen for Melissa and that the cure is found in time for her.
