Chapter 11

Kevin looked around still numb from the police questioning. It had been awful. Nick had cried throughout the whole thing. Now he sat curled up in chair, sniffling every once and a while. And AJ had never been more nervous. He stuttered and choked on every answer he gave. As soon as he was done he had fallen into a restless sleep. Doctors had informed them he would be released after he woke up.

The worst part of the whole thing was they had gotten nowhere. Brian and Howie were still missing and they had no leads. There wasn't even a suspect.

Kevin was brought back to reality by a light tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he came face to face with a kind looking officer. Sympathy was shinning bright in his eyes, along with seemed to be grief.

"Mr. Richardson, I'd like to tell you something." The officer eyed Nick's shivering form. "Away from your friends."

Kevin nodded and followed the officer to an unoccupied room. The officer turned to him with a frown.

"I have to be honest with you." He sighed. "The chances of finding your friends alive are slim to none."

Kevin looked at him, mouth agape. He couldn't have heard what he thought he just did. The man in front of him had just predicted his friends' deaths. No not his friends, his brothers.

"No." He rasped. "They'll be fine."

"Sir," The officer's voice was calm. "We've had cases like this before. People take them without any other motive but to kill them. They don't want ransom so there's no reason to keep them alive. They are probably dead at this moment. I'm sorry, but it's the truth."

"No!" Kevin stated firmly. "They are my brothers. I'd know if they were dead, and i know they aren't!"

"Sir," The officer started.

"Don't sir me!" Kevin shouted, interrupting the officer. "Your job is to find them and bring them back alive. Now get your asss out there and find them!"

Withthat he got up and stormed out of the room. He was surprised to run into a trembling Nick. Tears were trailing down his cheeks. Kevin realized had heard that entire conversation.

"Oh God." He murmured pulling Nick into a tight hug. "We'll find them Nicky. They'll be okay."

Nick stayed silent, but Kevin could feel him shaking with his own tears. He tightened his hold on him. The officer tried to sneak by unnoticed but Kevin's glare found him. He froze and stayed in his spot.

Suddenly a younger officer came running up to them. His eyes were wide and frantic. He shoved a phone at the officer and ran off. The officer took it and answered with a wary hello.

Kevin watched intently as the officer carried on a one sided conversation. His eyes where wide and he kept shouting out 'where'. Kevin noticed that Nick had also intrest.

Finally he hung up and turned to Kevin. He breathed a heavy sigh.

"I believe I owe you an apology." He said. "It appears we have gotten another letter. It was found taped to your hotel room door."

Nick stiffened and choked on a gasp. Kevin patted him reassuringly on the shoulder on the shoulder before turning his attention to the officer.

"What did it say?" Kevin didn't ask the question, he demanded it.

"It had a picture of Howie and Brian with their faces crossed out." The officer explained. "On the back was an address and a short poem."

"What did they poem say?" Nick asked in a trembling voice.

"It read 'Here's where they are, dead or alive? When you get there, you can decide.' "The officer whispered.

Kevin didn't know whether to be glad or upset. They knew where they were,. But when they found them they could be dead.

"Let's go." He ordered. "We've got two people to save."

With that he marched down the hall. He had to save them. And some how he knew he would.
