Chapter 6
Kevin nodded numbly while he listened
to the doctor explain AJ's condition. It was an overdose of some unknown drug
that caused his siezure and weakness. Since they had arrived AJ had suffered
from two more seizures, which had frightened him but terrorfied Brian and Nick.
"So with a little rest and some medacation his seizures should stop."
The doctor explained."So don't worry. He'll be fine in no time."
Kevin nodded and turned back to AJ's room. He saw Nick curled up in a nearby
chair sound asleep. Brian was staring blankly down at AJ. Kevin walked up to
him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
Brian jumped slightly at the sudden weight from Kevin's hand. He looked up at
him with fear filled eyes.
"They are coming for him next." Brian whispered. "They are going
to get him while he's weak."
"He won't be touched." Kevin gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
"There are too many guards all over this place."
"So it's safe to get a soda?" Brian sounded hopeful.
"Sure." Kevin laughed.He rustled Brian's hair playfully.
Brian swatted at his hand and headed for the door. He turned around with a
confused look.
"Where is the nearest soda machine?"
"Uhh.." Kevin stopped to think. "Down the hall, right outside
the parking lot exit."
"Thanks. Want anything?"
Kevin shook his head. "Bring Nicky something though. He'll want something
as soon as he wakes up."
Brian nodded and walked out. Kevin looked once more at AJ's pale face. He let
his eyes wander to the spot which Nick slept. His small frame fit perfectly into
the hospital chair. Kevin smiled. From memory he knew Nick was the last one in
the picture.
Kevin sighed and lowered himself down into the chair next to Nick. Getting
comfertable he figured he would get a little rest before Brian got back.
