Chapter

The pace at which Brian was running slowed down as he came closer to
the hotel. He let out a loud sigh of relief as he seen the sign for the hotel
in the distance. When he finally go to the hotel, he leaned against the outside
wall breathing heavily to catch his breath and slow down his racing heart.
"Damn heart condition" he thought bitterly as he continued to take
deep breaths. After a few moments, Brian finally caught his breath and reached
back to his pocket to fish out his wallet and get his room key. To his horror,
he didn't find his wallet. In a panic, he frantically ran his hands through all
of his pockets and to his dismay, he still didn't find his wallet. He lowered
himself to the ground and began to think that maybe he had left it on the table
in the hotel room. Other thoughts of the whereabouts of his wallet ran through
his head and he finally convinced himself that he must of had left his wallet
in his room. He got off of the ground and made his way to the lady at the desk.
"May I help you Mr. Littrell?" she asked. Brian let out a sigh of
relief, and was thankful that this was the same woman that had checked them in
and she remember him. Brian gave her a sheepish grin and explained to her that
he went for a walk and left his key upstairs and didn't want to disturb his
groupmates by knocking on the door. The woman nodded in understanding when
Brian was finished explaining and reached behind the desk and found the spare
key to Brian's room. She handed it to him and asked him to please return it in the
morning. He thanked the woman and made his way to the elevator. The elevator
doors opened to reveal a empty elevator. Brian pushed the button for his floor
and sank down to the ground and sat in the corner of the elevator with the
scenes of the murder flashing through his tired mind. The chime of the elevator
brought Brian back from his thoughts and he quickly got up and ran out of the
elevator towards the suite. He prayed that Kevin and the rest of the guys were
still asleep and didn't wake up during his abscence. He quietly entered the key
and opened the door slowly and cautiously walked by his cousin's room on the
way to his own room. He glanced in the room and was happy to see his cousin's
sleeping figure illuminated by the moonlight that was streaming in through a
crack in the curtain. Brian smiled to himself in relief and quietly walked to
the room he shared with Nick, but not before noticing the light to the bathroom
was showing through the closed door. As he quietly crept into his bed he
glanced over to Nick's bed to find it empty. He concluded that Nick must had
been the one in the bathroom and he quickly fell into an exhausted, dreamless
sleep.
