Chapter
5
The next morning Kevin was rudely wakened by the sunlight streaming
into the room from the crack in the curtains. He got up quickly and jerked the
curtain shut and landed heavily on his bed. He looked over at the clock on the
night table and groaned when he seen the time was 8:45. He let out a frustrated
sigh as he got up from the bed and stumbled to the door as he ran his hand
through his hair. The sharp knock at the suite door cause Kevin to turn his
head in the direction of the door and slowly walk towards it. He opened the
door and was greeted by the face of their manager Mike who told him to get the
other boys up and that they had to be ready by 10:30 for the interview and they
would eat breakfast on the way. Kevin slowly nodded and shut the door before
Mike could say anything else and made his way to the bathroom before he woke up
the other guys. He quickly took a shower and changed into a fresh pair of
clothes and walked to AJ and Howie's room to wake them up.
After 5 minutes of struggling with the two to wake them up, Kevin
finally got them both up and out of bed. He let out a sigh of anger mixed with
frustration and prepared himself for the hard task of waking up
"Frick" and "Frack". Kevin entered the room and was shocked
to discover that Nick's bed was empty because usually it was a hassel to get
Nick up in the morning. Kevin shook his head as he walked over to the bed which
was occupied by Brian. Kevin grasped Brian's shoulders and started shaking him
gently to wake him up and to his surprise, Brian let out a scream, "DON'T
HURT ME PLEASE I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING!!" "Brian! Brian! Bri!! Wake up
it is me Kevin. No one is going to hurt you, I promise." Kevin said
soothingly to Brian as he slowly woke up. Brian's head jerked up and he looked
around the room in confusion and finally calmed down completely when he looked
into his worried cousin's face. "Man that was one hell of a dream."
Brian mumbled as he got out of the bed and walked to his duffle bag digging for
clean clothes. "You wanna talk about it Bri?" asked Kevin as he sat
on the bed and looked at Brian as he patiently waited for an answer. Brian
looked up from his duffle bag and shook his head as he said, "Nope I don't
remember what it was about man. If i remember I will tell ya, ok." Kevin
nodded at Brian in response and slowly made his way to the door as Brian made
his way towards the shower.
While Brian took a shower, AJ, Kevin, and Howie gathered around the TV
and flipped through the channels. Stopping only momentarily when they came
across a news report about the murder of 3 college students that happened only
hours before in the park in the middle of town. Kevin shook his head as he
thought how cruel some people in this world were and kept flipping through the
channels until they finally settled on another movie to watch as they waited
for Brian to come out of the shower and the others could take turns taking
their own showers. After 15 minutes Brian finally stepped out of the bathroom
in a clean pair of clothes as he was towel drying his hair and a silly grin
spread across his face as he said,"Next!" and giggled as Howie and AJ
quickly got off the couch sprinting towards the bathroom. AJ let out a
frustrated groan and kicked the bathroom door as Howie reached the bathroom
first. Kevin and Brian both rolled their eyes and returned their attention to
the movie. They was interupted moments later as AJ cleared his throat and said,
"Um hey guys?" Brian and Kevin looked up momentarily from the movie
and looked at AJ expectantly. "Have you seen a blonde boy about this tall
and about 15 years old around here since last night?" asked AJ as he held
his hand up to his neck demonstrating how tall Nick was. Brian and Kevin looked
at each other in horror as they both raced off of the couch and ran in each of
the rooms looking for Nick as they called his name. After 5 minutes of
searching they both made their ways towards the couch and sat down as they
looked at each other with worry etched in their eyes both wondering where their
young friend was and hoping he was alright.
