Chapter 1

“Oh jeez, stop poking me.” She winced as another bobby pin was shoved into her head and her hand slapped away.

“You know it’s going to take twice as long if you keep patting your head every time I put these in,” He said, in exasperation as he expertly curled another piece of hair and held in place as he fished around for another pin.

“Yeah well stop being a sadist I’m no voodoo doll you know,” She mumbled. She returned her gaze to the dress hanging up in front of the wardrobe and sighed.

“Getting nervous are we?” He asked as he started putting the fishing touches to the first half of her hair.

“Maybe just a little,” She admitted quietly as she looked back at him in the mirror that sat in front of her.

“Well let’s take your mind of that shall we. Talk about something that makes you forget everything to do with today for a bit” He said as he started with the other half of her hair.

“The day I met him.”

She sat in her car waiting for the traffic to ease up. Tapping impatiently on the steering wheel she checked the clock once again and then craned her neck passed the car in front to see what the hold up was. The car was violently shoved forward and her head hit the visor in front of her. Great just fucking great! She glanced in the rear-view mirror to see a blonde head banging against the steering wheel of the Durango that was now conveniently in her trunk. She released her seatbelt, opened the door and slid out, just as the occupant of the Durango did the same.

“Look I am really sorry. I didn’t see you,” he apologised as he walked closer to inspect the damage to both vehicles.

“How could you not see me? I was stationary in a traffic jam. Or is driving with your eyes closed the new in thing?” She moaned as she also neared the rear of her four day old Mini Cooper. It did not look good the bumper was crunched in, mud flap on the floor and lights broken.

“Look, again sorry, have you got a pen? I can give you my details I kind of have to be somewhere,” he said as he checked his watch.

“Ohh sorry did hitting me in the ass mess up your plans? I have a day too you know,” she hissed as she pulled the pen from her pocket and began to scribble her information on an old receipt. She quickly handed the pen to him only to have it snatched from her hand as he scrawled his info on an empty MacDonald’s cup. The pen and cup were thrust back into her hand and he quickly made for his car.

Just as he neared the door he heard one slam and glanced forward just in time to see her pull away, thanking the gods that the traffic had cleared. He glanced in the mirror sighing to himself as he glanced at the information on the receipt.

“Well Edie Evans, I can’t say it was a pleasure meeting you.” With that he started the engine and pulled away hoping he wouldn’t get his ass chewed for being late…. AGAIN!
