Chapter 6
Breakfast had been cooked and eaten
and on his mothers insistence Nick was to shower and to start getting ready. He
decided to make the bed first so he placed the photo album on the floor it fell
open to their engagement portrait.

In a romantic fashion
I will experiment
With my fear right before her eyes
And every smile that’s unveiled
Will be soaked
In my nervous charm
The day had been great, he knew that
she had loved the fact he had taken her back to Magic Kingdom but this time
they had decided to come home instead of watching the fireworks. He was aware she had been a bit disappointed
but he had insisted that she had more presents to open when she got home. This
morning she had received a platinum necklace with her birth stone in it, of
course being born in April meant that it was a diamond. To go with that he had
bought her the earrings and the bracelet to match. Then she had a mountain of
new DVD’s and CD’s plus lingerie and a spa day.
They were both now cuddled up on the
sofa in Nick’s den watching a DVD he had made of their time together. The DVD was filled with video footage and
pictures of them filled the screen. Pictures of that first date at Disney land,
swimming with dolphins in Australia, fooling around at sound check, dressed in
80’s retro gear for one of his videos. The past three years spent together
carefully documented on this DVD she could keep forever.
Then I’ll say
Is everything alright?
There’s a few things I’ve been meaning
To let go of tonight
The most recent photo of the two
together was at the Grammy’s and this was the last picture that filled the
screen. She sat in his lap at one of the after parties, not even realising the
photograph had been taken. Her hair was loosely curled and pulled back with
light tresses framing her face. They were both giggling about something, her arm
hung around his neck as one of his lay on her silk covered thigh. That had been
the night he decided he was going to do this. As the picture faded another
image of Nick appeared, the video footage that had been filmed the night
before.
“Hey baby girl, happy birthday. The
past three years that I have been lucky enough to spend with you have been the
best I have had in a long while so I want to thank you for that.” She squeezed
his hand as she continued to watch the screen.
“I have thought so hard about what I
want to say to you but nothing seems to make sense when I try and plan, just
like nothing seems to make sense when we are apart. You are the most wonderful
woman I know; you are so kind, caring, patient and passionate. You make me want
to get up each morning just to see your beautiful face.” She started to say
something, “Before you say anything yes you are beautiful first thing in the
morning. You… baby it is so hard to put into words how I feel about you. I
would be lost without you, truth is my life doesn’t work without you in it, you
make me happier than I ever thought I could be and if you let me I will try for
the rest of my life to make you feel the same.” Her grip tightened on his hand
and her breathing become shallower as she realised what was trying to be said.
He leant into her ear and whispered “Baby girl, marry me?”
And she will say
Everything’s just fine
So you can put an end to your worrying mind
And then our lips will collide
The artist sky will then bear witness
To a brand new chapter with torn up pages
When the planets align
I can feel the gates opening to my
Courage as I
Proceed to run my fingers through her hair
And forget everyone’s who’s jaded
Cause they don’t matter and
I don’t care
