Chapter 7
He glanced back into the mirror one
final time, most days dirty jeans, wrinkled t shirts and scuffed sneakers were
reflected, but not today. He fumbled with his tie, he hated wearing them,
always made him feel as though he was being strangled but that was nothing
compared to the butterflies that were flapping about in his stomach. The door to the room opened and his father
stuck his head round the corner.
“We should get going if we are going
to make it there before her Nick.”
“Be right out.” He glanced into the
mirror one last time before heading to the door.
She took a deep breath and opened her
eyes gazing into the mirror before her. She smiled when she saw her reflection
she really did look like a princess. Her hair although hidden beneath her veil
was up with curls spraying all around her face and her make up was perfect. She
gazed down to her dress. The strapless white corset hugged her figure in all
the right places, the band of sequins shone brightly across the top and matched
those at the bottom of the dress and also in her veil. She was ready, ready to
marry her Pirate. She giggled when she thought of that. The knock at the door
made her realise that is was time to leave. Her Father entered and he looked so
proud.
“Sweetheart you look beautiful. Are
you ready to go?” He asked as he pulled her into a hug.
“Yes, Yes I’m ready.” She whispered as
she hugged him back.
This should have been the easiest
thing that he ever had to do, so why was he so nervous? He had played live to thousands of people, in
front of other celebrities and even royalty and he hadn’t been as half as
nervous as he was standing up here now. He heard the orchestra start to play
familiar notes of “Angels” by Robbie Williams and turned to see the bridesmaids
gathered at the end of the isle. He watched as his sisters one by one walked
down the isle and laughed when Baylee decided to take a slight detour towards
Brian and Leigh Anne, with a little encouragement he was soon back on track.
The track came to an end and he sucked
in a breath, watching Baylee had distracted him and as he looked up he saw her
for the first time. She was stood clutching her fathers arm, looking as nervous
as he felt. She caught his eye and relaxed immediately as he mouthed “LOVE
YOU”. A huge grin took over her face as she mouthed back “MORE” to him, he
laughed back. It seemed like an eternity for her to reach him but at last her
hand snaked into his and he looked into her emerald green eyes, feeling all the
fear melt away.
She could feel her smile get bigger
the closer she got to him. She wanted to be in his arms and never leave. He
looked so good in his suit he had chosen charcoal grey instead of black and his
aubergine shirt matched the colours of the bridesmaids’ dresses. His smile lit
up his whole face as she reached him and took his hand.
She felt like she was on another
planet and couldn’t believe it when they reached the end of the ceremony. Stood
face to face they had exchanged vows and rings before their friends and family
and it was now time for that kiss. That kiss would be shared in the place where
their first ever kiss had been shared, below the castle in The Magic Kingdom in
Disney World.
