Chapter

At his next appointment for radiation, Brian asked Dr. Benson how long
he would be receiving the treatments and was surprised to find that he only had
to go for one month. That seemed small compared to the chemo.
So, Brian went for radiation treatments six days a week for a month. He
endured the side effects, but they really weren't bad. He just was tired most
of the time and slept a lot.
When the month was over, he had another regular doctors appointment to
see how things were going. Leighanne again went with him. Not all the painful
tests were run, since it had only been a month since his last check-up. That
was a relief to Brian.
When the results of the tests were done, Brian and Leighanne went up to
Dr. Benson's office. When they came into the room, he smiled at them.
"Everything looks good," he told Brian. "The tumor has
not shrunken as much as we had hoped, but it has shrunken a little and is
dormant right now."
"So what do I do now?" Brian asked.
"Well, you're in remission again now, so you can go home, and I'll
see you in three more months," Dr. Benson said with a smile. Brian
practically leaped out of his chair.
"Really? That's great!" he said happily. "When will you
take out the tumor?"
"It isn't quite small enough yet," Dr. Benson said. "But
the important thing is that it is dormant, and it might remain that way and
disappear on its own. I'll schedule an appointment for you in three months, in
February, and we'll see how things are going then."
"Ok," Brian said, relieved. He and Leighanne said good-bye
and headed home, happy once again.

That night, the Boys gathered at Brian and Leighanne's house again, but
this time to receive good news. The guys were all very happy when they heard
the news. They all hugged him tightly, hoping that this ordeal was over.
The next day, they held a meeting with their management to try and
reschedule the concert dates they had postponed. It took a few days to get
everything arranged, but finally, they got everything scheduled.
The following week, they held another press conference to announce the
good news and the new tour dates. The tour wouldn't start up again for a few
more weeks because Brian was still tired from his radiation. They also pushed
back the start of the entire European tour, which had been set for January, to
March. Brian enjoyed his time off, but was happy when he finally could get back
on the road.
