As soon as
they were done talking to Dr. Mitchell, Kevin and Howie raced up to Brian's and
AJ's rooms. They went to Brian's room first.
"Bri!"
Kevin called happily, as he burst into the room. "It's a miracle! Nicky's
getting better!" Brian's blue eyes widened in surprise. Then they filled
with tears. A smile spread across his face as he sobbed, full of happiness and
relief. Kevin and Howie came over to his bed, and the three of them hugged each
other tightly.
After Howie
and Kevin had finished telling Brian what Dr. Mitchell had told them, they went
to AJ's room to give him the wonderful news.
AJ was also
ecstatic when they told him. Kevin and Howie hugged him gently, being careful
not to bump his back or neck, which were still in braces. All AJ was able to do
was smile at them and squeeze their hands lightly. But that didn’t matter. AJ
wasn't worried about his own abilities now. All he cared about was Nick.
