Chapter

One Friday, a few weeks later, the phone rang in Alexa's dorm room.
"Kylie, could you get that?" Alexa asked her roommate, Kylie
Crandall.
"Sure," Kylie said, jumping up from the couch.
"Hello?" she said, then paused. "Lex, it's for you," she
said as she handed Alexa the phone. "It's Brian," she whispered,
smiling. Alexa returned her smile and put the phone to her ear.
"Hey, Bri," she said.
"Hey, babe," Brian said. "Whatcha doin'?"
"Studying," she replied.
"Oh. I'm sorry for calling you."
"No, that's okay," she said. "It's not for a real big
test or anything. Just a little exam. Besides, I'm almost done."
"Good. Do you want to come hang out with me when you're
done?" he asked.
"Sure, sounds great," she said. "Do you want me to drive
over to your parents' house?"
"Naw, I'll come pick you up," he replied. "What time
will you be ready?" Alexa looked at the clock. It was a little after five.
"Come about quarter till six," she said.
"Okay. I'll see ya," he said.
"Bye, sweetie," Alexa said.
"Bye-bye, honey. I love you."
"Love you too," she said. She hung up the phone, smiling.
"You guys doing something tonight?" Kylie asked.
"Just hanging out," Alexa replied.
"You are so lucky," Kylie said. "He's the sweetest guy.
Not to mention he's a total babe." Alexa laughed. She had only lived with
Kylie for a month, but already, they were getting to be good friends. Kylie was
from Ohio. She was a pretty girl with green eyes and long, dark brown hair. She
was very friendly and talkative, and she had a great sense of humor. Alexa
liked her a lot.
"Well, I've got to finish my homework. Bri's coming to get me at
5:45," Alexa said, sitting back down at her desk.
"Okay," Kylie replied. "I'm gonna go over to Ashleigh's
room and see if she what's she's doing. Have a good time."
"I will," Alexa said. "See ya later."
"Okay. Bye," Kylie said and left.
