Chapter

The next few
hours passed quickly for Katelyn. She ran around her room and packed up some
clothes, CDs, and other important possessions. She wasn't sure where Brian was
taking her or for how long, but she wanted to be ready for anything.
Later that
afternoon, at around 1:30, a sporty little BMW pulled into the driveway.
Katelyn stared out the window in shock as Brian slowly climbed out and looked
around cautiously before heading towards the front door. Katelyn grabbed her
bag and her purse and ran to meet him on the porch.
"Katelyn!"
he cried, smiling at her. His smile faded when he noticed her bruised cheek.
Suddenly,
Katelyn's eyes began to fill with tears.
"What's
the matter?" Brian asked, his eyes widening in concern. He put his arm
carefully around her shoulders and hugged her to his body.
"Nothing,"
Katelyn said, smiling up at him and wiping her eyes. "I'm happy, that's
all."
"You're
happy?" Brian asked. He felt he would never understand females.
"Of
course I am," Katelyn said. "I have my own personal Prince Charming
standing right here next to me. I have no idea where you're gonna take me, but
I feel like you've come to rescue me," she said, blinking back emotional
tears.
Brian smiled
sadly at her.
"Come
on," he said, taking her bag from her. "We'd better get going."
Katelyn nodded
and followed him out to his car. He opened the door of the passenger side and
helped Katelyn in. Then he put her bag in the trunk and got in himself. He put
his key in the ignition and started the car.
