Chapter 6

Promptly at six-thirty, the door to the room opened. Katelyn's eyes widened as AJ entered the room, followed by Howie, then Nick, then Kevin, and finally, Brian. Two bodyguards came in after Brian and closed the door behind them.

"Hello, everyone!" AJ said, grinning at the group of about forty girls sitting on the couches. There were a few happy squeals, but for the most part, the girls remained nice and quiet. Katelyn gazed in awe at the five young men standing just a few feet away from her. She could not believe she was this close to her most favorite group in the entire world!

"We're gonna start out by taking care of all the autograph signing and everything," Kevin said. "The guys and I will be sitting down at that table." He motioned to a table at the end of the room. "Just get into a line, and you'll all get a chance to get our autographs."

With that the five of them took their seats at the table. All the girls immediately jumped up and raced over to get in line. Katelyn and Jennie got in line towards the end, not wanting to be in the middle of pushing and shoving teeny-boppers.

As the first few girls stepped up to get their autographs signed by Kevin, who was at one end of the table, Brian, who was sitting at the other end, scoped out the rest of the girls. There were girls of all ages there, ranging from little girls that looked no older than six to adult women.

He saw plenty of pretty young women standing in line. Of course, he was engaged to Leighanne, but that didn't mean he couldn't look at other women. As he studied the line of girls, his eyes rested on two teenage girls standing almost at the end of the line. Both were very pretty.

One was tall and thin, with wavy, dark brown hair that hung to her shoulders and brown eyes. She was dressed in a pink halter top, white capri pants, and sandals with a big pink flower on each.

The other girl was shorter, about 5'4", and also very thin. She was a very cute girl, with short blonde hair and beautiful green eyes. She was dressed in a white tank top and a pale blue flowered skirt and was wearing white platform sandals.

He noticed the taller girl's attention seemed to be focused towards AJ. But the shorter, blonde girl was staring right at him. Brian saw her blush when their eyes met. He also blushed, embarrassed to have her catch him checking her out. He offered her a smile. Her eyes widened, and she smiled sweetly back at him, her cheeks growing even pinker.

By then, the first girl had made her way down the line and handed Brian a picture of the Backstreet Boys to sign. He smiled at her and talked to her for a moment before signing her autograph. He did the same for the rest of the girls following after the first.

After about thirty minutes, he found himself looking up at one of the girls he had noticed before, the tall brunette.

"Hi!" she said, grinning at him.

"Hello!" he said, returning her smile. "What's your name?" he asked.

"Jennie Brookman," she replied. "That's spelled J-E-N-N-I-E."

"Okay," Brian said, scribbling out a message and his autograph on the jacket of her Millennium CD and talking to her for a bit.
