Chapter
19
“Did
you have a good time tonight?” AJ asked Elyssa.
They were on their way home from the club. The group of them had hailed three taxis to
take them home, and AJ had managed to claim one of them for just him and
Elyssa, while Howie and Serena had gotten into another one, leaving Kevin,
Nick, and Jenna to ride home in the third.
“Yeah,
I had fun,” Elyssa replied. “Did you?”
“Yeah. It was great,” AJ said. He gently put a loose strand of Elyssa’s long
blonde hair behind her ear. “Mostly
because you were there.”
Elyssa
turned to look at him, surprised by his comment. “Oh, is that so?” she asked slyly.
AJ
flashed her his most charming smile. “Sure is,” he replied. “You’re fun to hang out with.”
“Well,
thank you,” Elyssa said. She paused a
moment, then added, “You’re fun to hang with too.”
“Thanks,”
AJ said. Then he grinned. “I bet you’re pretty fun to kiss too.”
Elyssa
was once again surprised by his flirty comment, but she tried not to show
this. “Ya think?” she asked. “Well, maybe you should find out for
yourself.”
AJ’s
grin grew wider. “I think I might just
take you up on that one,” he said. With
that, his arms came around her, and his mouth lowered to hers. Elyssa kissed back and wrapped her arms
around his neck. Their kiss was a long
one, and when they finally broke it, Elyssa was nearly out of breath.
“You
know,” AJ said, “I was right. You are
fun to kiss.”
“So
are you,” Elyssa said, smiling slightly.
“In fact, I think I want another one.”
Once
again, their arms came around each other, and their lips pressed together in a
kiss much more passionate than the first.
Suddenly,
the car jerked to a stop, causing them to break the kiss and embrace. AJ hurriedly paid the taxi driver and helped
Elyssa out onto the sidewalk in front of their hotel.

Jenna
watched as AJ helped Elyssa out of the taxi, burning with jealously. The taxi she had been riding in had pulled up
first, and while Nick was paying the driver, she had seen AJ and Elyssa’s taxi
pull up as well. She had seen them in
the back. She had seen what they were
doing. And she was jealous. She had never known that Elyssa had any
interest in AJ before. So what was she
doing kissing him? Was she just playing
with him, or was she really serious?
Either way, Jenna didn’t like it.
AJ didn’t deserve to be toyed with, and if Elyssa truly did like him,
well… that was even worse.
“Hey,
Jen, I’ll walk you up to your room,” said a male voice. Jenna turned around to see Nick standing
there.
“Oh,
sure, Nick. Thanks,” she said
absently. He took her hand gently in
his, and they walked into the hotel and took the elevator to their floor. Nick led Jenna down the hallway and stopped
at the door to her room.
“I
had a nice time tonight, Jenna,” Nick said, smiling down at her.
“Me
too,” Jenna replied mechanically, her attention focusing on laughing voices
approaching them. She recognized
Elyssa’s lilting giggle and knew that AJ was with her. Caught up in her jealously, Jenna suddenly
threw her arms around Nick and stood on her tip toes to kiss his lips.
Nick
was caught off-guard by Jenna’s suddenly display of affection, but he didn’t
mind it one bit. In fact, kissing her
was something he had been wanting to do all night, but had decided against it,
thinking that Jenna was not into him. Boy,
was I wrong, Nick thought happily, wrapping his arms around Jenna’s thin
waist and pulling her closer to him. He
kissed her back hungrily.
As
Elyssa turned the corner of the hallway, her mouth dropped open. There, standing right in front of her
doorway, were Nick and Jenna, their arms wrapped around each other, their lips
locked in a kiss. And a passionate
looking kiss too.
AJ
grabbed her hand when he saw it and gently pulled her back around the corner,
out of sight. Silently, he led her back
down the hall and into the safety of the elevator.
“Did
you see that?” Elyssa asked, her eyes wide.
AJ grinned and nodded. “I sure did,” he
said. “Man, I knew Nicky liked her, but
I didn’t think he’d put the moves on her that soon.”
Elyssa
laughed. “Well, you did the very same
thing to me, ya know,” she pointed out.
“Well
yeah, but that’s just my style. Nick’s
usually not so outgoing. Plus, I didn’t
think Jenna was all that into him.”
“Yeah,
I know,” Elyssa said. “I didn’t think
she was either. But it certainly looks
like she changed her mind.”
“Yeah,
I’ll say,” AJ said, chuckling. “So, what
should we do?”
“I
dunno, I don’t want to interrupt them,” Elyssa said. “They sure looked like they were having a
good time.”
“Yeah,”
AJ said. “Well, whaddya say we wander
back downstairs and see if we can find anything interesting to do?”
“Okay,”
Elyssa said and pressed the elevator button to take them downstairs.
