Chapter

A month later, in October, Alexa noticed that her period was late. She
grew excited, thinking she might be pregnant, but didn't tell Brian, just in
case she wasn't . She didn't want to get his hopes up. She made an appointment
with her doctor for the following Thursday. Brian and the Boys were making an
appearance on TRL that day to talk about their upcoming album, so Brian
wouldn't be around to know where she was going. If she was pregnant, Alexa
wanted it to be a big surprise for him.

When Thursday rolled around, Brian had to wake up early to catch his
flight to New York City. Alexa kissed him goodbye, then started to get ready
for her appointment.
A few hours later, she was sitting in the waiting room of her doctor's
office. She had been waiting for a half an hour when finally a nurse came into
the waiting room.
"Alexa Littrell," she called. Alexa stood up and walked over
to the nurse. The nurse smiled at her. "Right this way please, Mrs.
Littrell," she said, leading the way to one of the examining rooms.
"Dr. Randall will see you in a few minutes."
"Okay, thanks," Alexa said, as the nurse left the room.
A few minutes later, Dr. Randall came into the room.
"Hello, Alexa," she said warmly. "How are you
today?"
"I'm great," Alexa said. "But my period is almost two
weeks late, and I think I'm pregnant." Dr. Randall smiled.
"Well, let's run a few tests and see," she said. She ran the
pregnancy tests and then led Alexa back out to the waiting room.
"It will take about a half an hour to get the results back, "
she told Alexa. Alexa sat down and flipped through some magazines. She found
one on parenting and was filled with nervous excitement, thinking she might be
pregnant.
Half and hour later, a nurse came into the room and called Alexa again.
She led her to another room and sat her down to wait for Dr. Randall to come
in.
Dr. Randall came in a moment later with a big smile on her face.
"I'm happy to inform you that you are indeed pregnant, Alexa," she
said. Alexa grinned.
"Wait till I tell Bri," she thought. She couldn't wait until
he got home the next day.

The Boys' flight was due back at three o' clock in the afternoon. Alexa
was at the airport, waiting. Finally, their plane landed. When Brian came into
the terminal, she hurried over to him. Brian grabbed her up in a hug, lifting
her off the ground. She gave him a hug and a kiss, then quickly greeted the
others.

"So what are we doing tonight, babe," Brian asked, as they
were driving home.
"Well," Alexa said, "I thought we could go out for a
nice romantic dinner and then spend the night together at home."
"Sounds good," he said.
At about 6:00 that evening, Brian and Alexa drove out to their favorite
restaurant. When they got there, they sat down and ordered.
"So, what's with this 'romantic evening' we have planned?"
Brian asked.
"Well," Alexa said smiling, "it's kind of a
celebration."
"Really? What are we celebrating?"
"I went to my doctor yesterday," she started. "And,
well,. . . honey, we're gonna have a baby!"
"Really?!" Brian cried. Alexa nodded. "Oh, sweetie,
that's wonderful!" He came around the table and hugged her tightly.
"Oh, Lex, baby, I love you so much."
She took his hand. "Bri, I love you too. More than anything."
That night, Alexa was lying in bed when Brian came in to go to bed. He
climbed the king-size waterbed next to her.
"Hi, honey," she said, cuddling up beside him.
"Hi, sweetheart." He ran his hand through her silky, dark
hair. Alexa stretched out on her back, and Brian lay his hand on her stomach.
"Our baby's in there," he said, smiling. She smiled back and
lay her hand upon his.
"What do you want it to be?" she asked.
"Oh, I don't care. I've always wanted one of each, so it really
doesn't matter which comes first. What do you want it to be?"
"Same as you. I don't care. I'd love either one." They smiled
at each other again. Alexa felt like she had never been that happy before in
her life.
