Chapter
12
Over the next
few months, Brian was extremely busy. The wedding date was drawing nearer and
nearer.
One day, the
phone rang. Brian answered it.
"Hello?"
he said.
"Hi, is
this Brian?" a person asked.
"Yeah,
this is Brian," Brian replied.
"Oh hi,
Brian! This is Dave Ashmore." Brian felt his stomach drop. Morgan's father
had never called him before. Had something happened to her?
"Hey,
Dave! How is everything?" Brian asked.
"Pretty
good," Dave replied.
"How's
Morgan?"
"She's
doing alright. She's really looking forward to being in your wedding. That's
what helps her get by."
Brian smiled.
"That's good," he said.
"I was
calling to tell you that we are going to bring Morgan down to Florida two weeks
before the wedding and stay until it's over. She's never been to Disney World
or anything, and we thought we needed to take her there while we still
can."
"That's
great!" Brian said. "She'll love it down here."
"Listen,
Brian, I know you're very busy, but do you think we could bring her by for a
visit while we're in Florida?" Dave asked, hesitantly.
"Why, of
course you can," Brian said. "I'd love to have her come over."
"Thanks,"
Dave said. "She'll be so excited."
"Well,
when it gets closer to that time, just call me, and you can come visit,"
Brian said.
"All
right," Dave said. "Thank you so much, Brian."
"No
problem. I'll talk to you later. Bye."
"Bye,"
Dave said, hanging up.
Brian sat back
in his chair, smiling, and tried to think of things to show Morgan while she
was there.
