Chapter

A
month later, the tour had ended, and the Boys were in the Bahamas, working on
songs for their next album. They stayed
in the Bahamas for a few weeks and then flew back to the States for some time
off.
Brian went to
Kentucky and spent a few weeks visiting his family. Then, he headed to Georgia to visit his
fiancée, Leighanne, who was visiting her parents. He and Leighanne hadn't seen each other in a
few weeks because of their schedules, so they were excited to be with each
other.
Brian
and Leighanne planned to stay a week in Georgia and then fly back to their home
in Florida. The day before they left
though, Brian decided there was something important he must do.
He
rummaged through his suitcase, hoping he hadn't lost the piece of paper with
Morgan's phone number on it. He finally
found it near the bottom, crumpled and tattered. But the phone number still showed up clearly,
written with a purple crayon in Morgan's careful childish printing. Brian smiled as he picked up the phone and
dialed the number. The phone rang twice,
and then someone picked up.
"Hello?"
a voice said. It was Lisa.
"Hi,
Lisa, this is Brian Littrell. Remember
me?" Brian said. He heard Lisa gasp
on the other line.
"Brian?!"
she exclaimed. "Of course I
remember you. You're all Morgan ever
talks about."
"How's
she doing?" Brian asked.
"Oh,
she's doing alright," Lisa said, her tone of voice changing from delighted
to rather depressed sounding.
"Do
you think I could stop by and visit her?" Brian asked.
"Why
of course!" Lisa said, sounding surprised.
"When?"
"Well,
I was thinking sometime this afternoon, if that would be alright with you. I'm here in Georgia visiting my
girlfriend. It's only about two hours
away, so I thought I would call and see if I could stop by," Brian
explained.
"Oh,
Brian, that would be wonderful!" Lisa said. "What time do you want to come?"
"Well,
I could be there at about 4:00. Would
that work out?" Brian asked.
"Sure,
that would be great! You can stay for a
few hours and eat supper with us, if you'd like," Lisa offered.
"Thanks
a lot. That would be wonderful,"
Brian said.
"Alright
then. We'll see you about 4:00
then. Thank you so much for calling,
Brian."
"It's
no problem. I really like Morgan, and I
care about her. I know how hard this
must be for all of you, and I'll do anything I can to help her out. I had a heart condition when I was younger
too. What I went through was not nearly as bad as what poor Morgan's going
through, but still, I know how she feels, and I'm glad to be able to cheer her
up."
"You're
a sweetheart, Brian," Lisa said.
Her voice sounded choked up.
"Thank
you," Brian said. "I'll see
you this afternoon."
"Okay,
Brian," Lisa said.
"Good-bye."
"Bye,"
Brian said, hanging up. Then he started
to get ready to leave.
