Updates of 2010

December 31st Updates

In the last DS update of 2010, Chapter 75 of “Song for the Undead” has been posted.  Sorry for the delay on that one; we hope you enjoy!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you, the readers, for your support over the past year.  It’s been a good one for me in terms of fanfic and this site.  I had been on kind of a “I’m gonna write AU and transition into writing an original novel because I want to publish a book” kick earlier in the year, but then I started two new BSB fanfics over the summer and have really enjoyed writing those (well, Curtain Call… I know I haven’t done much writing on Guilty Roads lately – sorry LP, Mare, and anyone else who cares).  This year has really shown me how much I still love writing just plain fan fiction, AU or otherwise, and you guys have shown, especially with your support on Absolute Chaos, that you still enjoy reading it.  So thank you!  Your feedback means the world to me. :)

Best wishes for 2011!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Merry Christmas!  My “gift” to you is a Bsb/zombie spoof Rose and I randomly co-wrote late the other night called “Nick’s Zombie Nightmare Before Christmas.”  It is random and twisted, but we hope you enjoy it!  Also, Chapter 44 of “Curtain Call” is up!

Finally, the awards page has been updated.  The Felix Awards ceremony was held Thursday night on the Absolute Chaos forum, and thanks to your votes, I won Best Author, Best Alternate Universe and Best Collaboration for “Song for the Undead,” Best Romance for “By My Side,” runner-up for Best Series for the “Broken” series, and runner-up for Best Novel for “Curtain Call.”  I’m so flattered; thank you so much for your support!!

Chapters 39-41 of “Curtain Call” are up!  Don’t hate me too much for getting cliffhanger-happy. ;)  You know I love them!

I also have a new hosted story, “Everything But the Girl” by Geisha.  It’s an AJ romance/drama, and just the first three parts are up so far, but it seems really promising so far.  Check it out, and be sure to let Geisha know what you think!

November 14th Updates

I’ve been on a writing streak again this weekend!  All on “Curtain Call” this time – Chapters 27-29 are up!  It feels so good to have a story of my own that I can get so into like this; I really haven’t had that since I finished “By My Side” almost three years ago.  Go figure, it had to be this one.  LOL.  In any case, I’m enjoying writing it, and I really appreciate the feedback I’ve been getting for it, so thank you to those of you who have been reading and reviewing!  I hope you like the three new chapters!

November 11th Updates

I have a double rainbow update of “Curtain Call,” all the way!  Chapters 25 and 26 are up.  Hope you enjoy!

November 7th Updates

I have the trifecta of updates for you today!  All three of my main in-progress stories have been updated:  Chapters 73-74 of “Song for the Undead,” Chapter 24 of “Curtain Call,” AND Chapter 9 of “Guilty Roads” are all up for your reading enjoyment!

All three of these stories have also been nominated in the Absolute Chaos Felix Awards.  Thank you for the nominations!!  If you haven’t already, please go VOTE!

October 31st Updates

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  In honor of our favorite zombie holiday, Rose and I have a double undead update of “Song for the Undead” for you today!  Chapters 71 and 72 are up, beginning Part VII of the story, “The Divergence.”  We hope you enjoy!

Also, those of you in the U.S. should be sure to watch or record the premiere of the new show “The Walking Dead” on AMC tonight at 10/9c!  It is sure to be epic!  Rose and I entered a contest for the show called “Spread the Dead” – please click on both of the pictures below to earn each of us a point!  Thanks!

Voting for the Felix Awards start tomorrow at Absolute Chaos.  We’re nominated in several categories and would love your votes!  Thanks again for the nominations!

October 24th Updates

Chapter 23 of “Curtain Call” is finally up!  Sorry for keeping you waiting.  Just an FYI, for those who have been reading the story on Absolute Chaos, it has been affected by the glitch that is preventing some updated stories from showing up on the Most Recent page.  Chapter 23 IS up there, though, and if you’re a member of AC and have it favorited there, you should have received an email notification.  Here is the direct link to the story, for those who want to read and review there:  http://absolutechaos.net/viewstory.php?sid=10159  If you prefer reading on AC, you might want to favorite it if you haven’t already, so that you’ll get an email with the link when I update, until this glitch is resolved.  Thanks for reading!

October 17th Updates

Chapter 70 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  We hope you enjoy!  Feedback is much appreciated.

October 11th Updates

One more update for you… Chapter 69 of “Song for the Undead” is up!  That’s all I’ve got, but hopefully I’ll be able to update again next weekend.  Thanks for reading!

October 10th Updates

The streak continues!  Chapter 68 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  At the rate I’m going, you might get another update tomorrow, too!

October 9th Updates

Woot, two updates in a row!  And finally, one from me!  You are never going to believe this, but the long-awaited Chapter 8 of my story “Guilty Roads” is up!  FINALLY!

I have to apologize for neglecting this story for the last three months.  I was going strong with it, but wrote myself into a hole with this chapter and got stuck with writer’s block.  That doesn’t happen to me very often, but this story is more complicated, plot-wise, than what I usually write, and I’ve always had the problem of plot holes with it.  Then I got the idea for “Curtain Call” and got all inspired on that one and gave myself an excuse not to worry about GR.  Thanks to whoever nominated it for the Felix Awards on Absolute Chaos, I started feeling guilty and finally decided to try working on it again.  I had to scrap what I’d written for Chapter 8 originally, but it was worth it because I finally managed to finish the chapter.  I seriously hope it won’t take me this long to write the next one.  I don’t think so.

Updates on all my stories are going to be slower than over the summer simply because I’m busy with work, and I have so many stories to go between.  “Song for the Undead” is my next priority, and I’m hoping to have the next chapter done sometime this weekend as well.  Thank god for Christopher Columbus and three-day weekends!

Anyway, thanks for bearing with me, and I hope those of you who have been hinting or outright begging for a GR update will enjoy the chapter and let me know you’re still reading. :)

October 8th Updates

Sorry it’s been so long since the last update!  I have been busy/busy with work and life and haven’t written a whole lot.  But I do have a couple of updates for you, courtesy of Rose, who has been writing way more than me.  Chapter 67 of “Song for the Undead” is up, as is Chapter 18 of her story “Remember Me This Way.”

Both stories are nominated for the 2010 Felix Awards over at Absolute Chaos, as are several of my individual stories.  Thank you so much to whoever nominated me!  The awards will be voted on this year, but voting doesn’t begin until November 1.  I’ll post a reminder and link when that starts.  I really appreciate the nominations, and they are inspiring me to want to write this weekend.  So hopefully more updates soon on something, anything!

September 12th Updates

I have a Double Double Rainbow (starting to look like a quadruple rainbow) update for you today!  For the first time since school started back for me, I had a free weekend to write, and I took advantage!  Chapter 22 of “Curtain Call” is up, and so is Chapter 66 of “Song for the Undead.”

In hosted updates, Chapter 17 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” is up.  I’m also hosting Rose’s brand new story, “Walked Out of My Dreams.”  It’s a psychological drama starring Brian, but part of the story is told from Nick’s point of view, as well.  It’s posted through Chapter 2 – enjoy, and don’t forget to send feedback!

August 26th Updates

Chapter 21 of “Curtain Call” is up.  Enjoy!  I have to admit, I’ve been sitting on this chapter for awhile, and I haven’t written anything on it since.  I’m going to be out of town this weekend and part of next, and when I do finally get enough time and energy to write, I have an Undead part to finish first, so it will probably be at least a couple weeks before CC gets updated again.  Sorry about that, but I wanted to warn you now.  This is the problem with having 5+ different stories going on at once; now that work has started up again for me, I’m spread too thin and don’t have enough time for all or even most of them!  Bear with me! :)

August 22nd Updates

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HOWIE!  Because you are SO Double Rainbow all the way, I have a full-on Double Rainbow update today!  Chapter 65 of “Song for the Undead” is up, as well as Chapter 16 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way.”  Enjoy!

August 18th Updates

Chapter 20 of “Curtain Call” is up!  Back to Nick’s POV now.  Just a word of warning, this will also be the last update before school starts for me.  You know how I am; once the school year starts, my updates always slow down.  I do have one more chapter of CC done, which I still need to proofread, but I won’t keep you hanging for too, too long… ;)   Enjoy!

August 13th Updates

It’s Friday the 13th, and you know what that means!  Time for an Undead update!  Chapter 64 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  So is Chapter 19 of “Curtain Call.”  Enjoy!

August 8th Updates

Chapter 18 of “Curtain Call” and Chapter 15 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” are up!  Enjoy!

August 3rd Updates

Chapter 63 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  Enjoy!

August 2nd Updates

Chapter 17 of “Curtain Call” is up.  Enjoy!

Also, since it’s a new month, I have three new Spotlight Stories.  Check them out on the main page!

July 30th Updates

This update is starting even to look like a triple rainbow!  (Which, if you don’t know what that means, looks a little something like THIS!)

First up, Chapter 7 of “Secrets of the Heart” is up!  Yes… the Brian/AJ AU that I never update LOL.  It’s updated!  Huge thanks to Sarah for motivating me to write the next chapter!

Second, Chapter 16 of “Curtain Call” is up!  I will warn you now, I’ve been staying at least a chapter (usually two) ahead of myself this whole time I’ve been posting a chapter every day or two, but I’m caught up to myself – Chapter 17 isn’t done yet, so if the updates keep slowing down, that’s why.  I’m still going pretty strong with it, though, and your reviews certainly help, so thank you!!

To complete the trifecta, Chapter 14 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” is up, too!

Enjoy the updates!

July 28th Updates

Chapter 15 of “Curtain Call” is up!

July 25th Updates

Chapter 14 of “Curtain Call” and Chapter 13 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” are up!

Still looking for songwriters... see the message from yesterday’s update.

July 24th Updates

Chapter 13 of “Curtain Call” is up!

Calling all songwriters...

I’m in need of two or three original songs to use as Cary’s in Curtain Call.  I have two options – either try to write some myself, or appeal to my more talented readers.  Despite my love of writing fiction, I have come to the conclusion that I am NOT a songwriter, but I know some of you are and are a lot better at it than I am.  So I’m just throwing this out there – if anyone has a song that might work for Cary and would like to see it featured in the story, send it my way!

This isn’t like an official “contest” or anything, but if I think your song fits and can use it in the story, I will, and I’ll credit you and give you some free promotion! LOL  If you have a song, email me at rokofages75@dreamers-sanctuary.com.  Definitely include the lyrics, and if you have anything else, like an mp3 or a YouTube video of you playing/singing the song so I can hear the music, send that too – if not, just lyrics are fine, and I’ll make up a tune in my head LOL.  Feel free to explain what the song means or why you wrote it, if you want to, cause I could use that in the story, too.

If you need any background info on Cary, let me know and I can tell you more about her, too.  Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!

July 22nd Updates

Chapter 12 of “Curtain Call” AND of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” are up!  Double Rainbow all the way!

Just a heads up for Guilty Roads fans – I am sensing that my muse is about to take a break from Curtain Call and go back to GR soon, so I’m hoping I can have an update on that one out in the next few days, as well as two more chapters of CC.  No promises, but we’ll see how it goes.  Stay tuned, and thanks for reading! :)

Chapter 11 of “Curtain Call” is up.  Enjoy!

Chapter 11 of Rose’s story “Remember Me This Way” is also up!

Double the angst, double the fun!  LOL

Chapter 9 of “Curtain Call” is up, and all shall be revealed… ;)

July 18th Updates

Chapter 8 of “Curtain Call” is up, as well as Chapter 10 of Rose’s story “Remember Me This Way.”  Double Nick torture for those of you reading – enjoy!

July 17th Updates

Chapter 7 of “Curtain Call” is up.  Enjoy!

July 15th Updates

Chapter 6 of my new story “Curtain Call” is up!  I just want to say a huge thank you to anyone who’s read the first few chapters and especially to those who have taken the time to give feedback, whether it’s through email, Twitter, forum post, or Absolute Chaos review.  It means a lot to me.  I was nervous about posting this story, but you’re making me glad I did. :)  I hope it won’t disappoint!

In hosted updates, Chapter 9 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” is also up!  So go and get your double dose of Nick angst for the day – woot! ;)

July 13th Updates

Well, I started another new story!  I didn’t really intend to start anything new, having just started Guilty Roads, but I got this idea last Sunday, it wouldn’t leave me alone, and so I decided to play around with it and started writing just to get it out of my system.  I’ve learned that if I try to sit on ideas while I’m finishing other stories first, I usually don’t come back to them, so it’s better to go ahead and write while I’m inspired and see where it takes me.  Usually I’ll write a beginning chapter and then set it aside and go back to whatever other stories I was working on.  With this one, I wrote on it for a full week, cranking out a chapter a day (which, for me, is pretty good these days).  I said I wasn’t going to post it until I got to Chapter 6 and saw how it was going then.  Well, I finished Chapter 6 this morning, so I guess it’s time to post it so you guys can see why I haven’t written anything for GR since the last update. LOL

The new story is called “Curtain Call,” and the first five chapters are up.  There’s a reason I’m posting that many chapters at once, instead of staying ahead of myself and posting them one at a time.  I hope that you’ll read all five before making a judgment about the story.  This one reminds me of Broken – it starts out reading like probably yet another teenybopper romance story, but then it takes a turn (and it takes fewer chapters to get there this time).  Also, like Broken, I started off thinking I would never actually turn this idea into a story because I’ve written similar stories before, but the more I thought about it and planned for it and started writing it, the more I couldn’t let it go.  Also, like Broken… well, I’ll let you read.  So for what it’s worth, here it is:  http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/curtain.html  It’s a classic “my” kind of story, and for those of you who like my dramas, I hope you enjoy!

July 9th Updates

Chapter 62 of “Song for the Undead” is up!  Enjoy!

July 2nd Updates

Chapter 8 of Rose’s “Remember Me This Way” is up in the Hosted Stories section!  In going along with the movie theme of the new layout, I also added a new feature to the main page called “Spotlight Stories.”  I will update this every month or so with three featured fics that I think are worth checking out – one from the My Stories section, one from the Hosted Stories section, and one from the web – any great story I’ve been reading that’s not on DS.  The first three are up on the home page now, so if you haven’t already, check them out!

July 1st Updates

Chapter 7 of “Guilty Roads” is up.  Hope you enjoy!

June 28th Updates

Well, I didn’t intend to change the site layout so soon, considering I put the current layout up at New Year’s, but I got inspired by the This Is Us tour and had the time, so I made a new layout.  I hope you like it!  There are two different versions of it to accommodate different screen resolutions; when you click to enter the main page of the site, you should be automatically directed to whichever one will fit your screen resolution best.

If anything doesn’t work right for you, please let me know by email at rokofages75@dreamers-sanctuary.com or post on the forum or Yahoo Group.  If any of the old graphics from the purple and green layout are still showing up for you, try the following:

1. Check your bookmarks – enter the site through dreamers-sanctuary.com to make sure you get to the right main page.

2. Refresh your browser.  If things inside the frame still don’t show up correctly (this may happen if you use Chrome; it did for me), right click inside the frame and select “reload frame.”  That should load the newest version for you.

3. Let me know if you are still having issues with anything on the site so I can look into it.

Thanks!  I hope you enjoy the new layout.  I’ve made small updates to various pages around the site, so take a look around!

“Song for the Undead” has also been updated with the start of Part VI, Chapter 61.

In other news, Absolute Chaos is back online with a new server and new layout.  Welcome back, AC!

June 24th Updates

Chapter 60 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  We hope you enjoy!

June 23rd Updates

Okay, so it’s only been a few hours since I posted the last update, but technically it’s the next day – besides, I don’t think anyone will mind. ;)  Chapter 6 of “Guilty Roads” is up!  This is where the story takes a turn, a turn I’d planned but I don’t think you’ll expect, so I hope you like it.  It’s something different, anyway, in a story that is otherwise pretty old-school suspense cliché.  Let me know what you think, either by email or on my forum.  Thanks for reading!

June 22nd Updates

I have a new hosted story for you today by my friend and co-writer, Rose!  It’s called “Remember Me This Way,” and it’s a wonderful, angst-filled Nick drama.  You can find the first seven chapters of it posted in the Hosted Stories section, under Nick Stories.  Please note that there are now two stories with this title on that page; they are both excellent, but the new one is the one by Rose.  Enjoy, and don’t forget to send her feedback!

Absolute Chaos is still down.  Quite a few writers and readers from the site have made their way to the Sanctuary forum, and there are several stories posted there now, so if you’re looking for your favorites or a place to post your own, head over to http://dreamsanctuary.proboards.com/ and please pass this on to anyone you know who might be looking.

June 21st Updates

Chapter 5 of “Guilty Roads” is up.  Enjoy!

Also, for those of you who visit Absolute Chaos, you may have noticed the site has been down all day.  Basically, the owner Chaos is aware of the situation, but it’s going to be at least a few days before he can get the site back up.  One of the moderators, Julilly, posted a blog about it here: http://acfictalk.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/update/  Until the site is back up and running, I’ve added a board on the Sanctuary forum for AC people to chat and post/read stories.  Go to http://dreamsanctuary.proboards.com/  Please pass this info on to other AC users you know who may not have seen it yet.

June 16th Updates

Chapter 4 of “Guilty Roads” is up!  This is my favorite chapter so far; I hope you like it!  Also, this will be the last update till Friday night, since I’m going out of town to see BACKSTREET BOYS!  I’ll have at least another chapter up for you this weekend.  Tell then, enjoy!

June 15th Updates

Chapter 3 of “Guilty Roads” is up.  Enjoy!

June 14th Updates

Chapter 2 of my new story “Guilty Roads” is up!  Thanks so much to those of you who gave me feedback on the forum, Absolute Chaos, and Twitter.  I really appreciate it!  I’m still in the honeymoon phase of starting a new story, but the encouraging feedback is also very motivating, so thank you for keeping me eager to write more!  I hope you like the second chapter, and I’ll have more for you soon!

While I’m at it… apparently I got busy at the end of April and missed it, but the tenth anniversary of Dreamer’s Sanctuary was on April 29th of this year.  I had just turned 15 when I started this site, and if you’d asked me then if I thought I’d still be writing Bsb fanfics ten years later (or hell, if the Backstreet Boys would even still be together in another decade), my answer would have been no.  Well… call me dedicated or call me pathetic, but here I am, still writing, still a fan, still super excited about going to the Boys’ concert on Thursday!  I wouldn’t still be running this site if I didn’t enjoy it, but I do want to thank you guys – the visitors, the readers, the fellow writers – for coming here, reading the stories, and giving me a reason to write besides my own entertainment.  I so appreciate you, and it is my promise to you, as it’s always been (April Fools jokes aside), that while other fanfic sites disappear without warning and the old Geocities pages are no more, DS will still be here with its almost 160 stories and counting for you to read – hopefully for another ten years or more!  Thanks for visiting, and thanks for reading! :)

June 13th Updates

Hey, how about this?  Two updates in the same week!  And I have a new story for you!  I’m a little hesitant to start posting this now, since the last time I started a new story on a whim and posted it right away (Secrets), I was really bad about actually updating it.  I don’t want to do that again.  But in a way, even though it’s new, this story has been in the works for at least six years, in my head and in semi-outline form on my computer, and I’m excited about the fact that I finally filled the plot holes that had always kept me from writing it and got started on it.  I’m also excited about it because it has an old-school fanfic vibe:  it’s set in 1999, during the Millennium tour, and it’s a suspense/drama like some of my old favorites, the “Scared of Reality” and “It Stays With You” –type stories of the fandom, with a twist.  Since all the other stories I’m working on right now are AUs, this is a nice change for me – going old-school Bsb again!  The story is called “Guilty Roads,” and Chapter 1 is up.  I’m a little further in the story than what I have posted, so I will add more soon.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the beginning, and I’d love to know what you think so far!  Here’s a direct link: http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/guilty.html  Thanks for reading!

Also, another update – you may have been to the archive site I put up last summer, DWLYN: http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/dwlyn/  All of my favorite stories which were lost to Geocities or taken offline prior to that are archived there.  One of them, “Faceless” by Jaydee, has always been missing its prologue, which was an image file that looked like a newspaper article.  Since the Wayback Machine on archive.org doesn’t save images like it does text, I could never recover that prologue.  The other day, I got an email from a reader named Kyrrah, who, lo and behold, had the prologue picture and sent it to me!  So for any readers of “Faceless,” you can now read the complete story, including prologue, over on DWLYN.  THANK YOU, KYRRAH!!!

June 9th Updates

Sorry for the long delays in updates lately!  The end of the school year is always busy, but now that it’s summer vacation for me, I have a lot more time to write, so expect more frequent updates for the next couple months. :)   Chapter 59 of “Song for the Undead” is up, as well as Chapter 6 of “Secrets of the Heart.”  (I know, it’s been a LONG time on that one – sorry!)   I have some other writing projects in the works that I’ve been playing around with, and when my muse decides to settle down and commit to one, hopefully I’ll have some other stuff to post.  For now, I hope you enjoy the new chapters of these two stories.  Thanks for reading!

May 18th Updates

Chapter 58 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  Enjoy!

April 19th Updates

Chapter 57 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  Enjoy!

April 2nd Updates

After some reconsideration, I’ve decided not to move Dreamer’s Sanctuary to Twitter.  It’s just not practical to post stories 140 characters at a time or expect people to read them that way.  I think I’ll keep the site right where it is, the way it is.

In other words… April Fool. ;)

In real updates, Chapter 56 of “Song for the Undead” is posted here on the site where it belongs.  If you haven’t read it on AC or Twitter (LOL) yet, check it out – hope you enjoy!  I also updated the Site History page, where you can view all of my annual April Fool’s pranks from the last seven years.

April 1st Updates

Chapter 56 of “Song for the Undead” is posted, exclusively on the new Twitter site:  http://www.twitter.com/d_sanctuary/  If you did not come through the index page, click here to read the announcement regarding this brand new endeavor.

March 8th Updates

Chapter 55 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  Enjoy!

The 6th and final part of 00Carter’s “Wreckage in a Winter Wonderland” is up.  Hope you’ve enjoyed the new episode!

The next part of our new “00Carter” episode is up.  Hope you’re liking it – if so, let us know! :)

February 24th Updates

Chapter 54 of “Song for the Undead” is up, and “00Carter” has been updated again too.  We hope you enjoy all the updates while they last! :)

February 23rd Updates

“00Carter” has been updated.  The new part coincides with the start of the ladies figure skating competition on the Olympics tonight.  Enjoy!

I also did some housekeeping on the Links page, taking down broken links and adding a few new links.  I moved all dead links that I wanted to save to the bottom of the page, in case anyone wants to plug them into the Wayback Machine on archive.org.  If you have a fanfic or Bsb site you would like linked, let me know!

February 21st Updates

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A new year… a new decade… a new layout!  I figured it was about time, since the last one had been up for like two years LOL.  Hope you enjoy the new one!  If anything looks out of place, as in not updated from the old layout, try refreshing your browser.  I use Chrome, and it’s notorious for loading old versions of pages in the frames.  Let me know if you discover any issues with the site – rokofages75@dreamers-sanctuary.com – thanks!

Also, as we grow ever closer to the zombie apocalypse, Chapter 49 of “Song for the Undead” is up.  Happy reading! ;)

This April will mark Dreamer’s Sanctuary’s ten-year anniversary on the web.  I started this site in April 2000 as a high-school freshman.  I never imagined I would still be maintaining it, still writing Fanfiction, ten years later, but a decade has passed, and here I am!  I know a lot of you have been visiting this site for a good part of that decade, and I thank you for that – this wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without people to share it with!  That said, I hope you will continue to enjoy the site and stories as much as I do, and best wishes for a great 2010!
