Last Update:  April 21, 2012

I’m back with yet another new story!  I’ve been holding onto this one for a couple of weeks, debating on whether or not I should post it, since I have so many other unfinished stories.  But the collaborations are outside my control right now (a.k.a. it’s not my turn to write on any of them), and as much as I wish I could get some momentum going on “Guilty Roads” or “Secrets of the Heart,” it hasn’t happened yet.  I had just been jumping around from story to story since finishing “Curtain Call” and not getting much written on any of them, until spring break two weeks ago, when I wrote the two April Fool’s stories and then finally settled into this new one.  I actually started this story last summer, but only really started making progress on it over break.  I’m having a lot of fun writing it so far, and I finally decided it would be better to start posting it than not updating at all.  So, here goes!

The story is called “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Backstreet Boy,” and it’s my first crossover that’s not an *NSync joke.  In fact, it’s not a joke at all (and not another April Fool’s story, I promise!).  It’s not even a parody, although it reads like one in the beginning.  It’s a legitimate crossover between my two favorite fandoms, Backstreet Boys and Harry Potter.  It’s a little like “00Carter” in that it’s tongue-in-cheek, not meant to be taken super seriously, but still a real story.  I hope it will be a fun read for anyone who likes both BSB and HP!  It’s my first time writing in another fandom in a LONG time; I did make a couple of attempts at Harry Potter fanfic ten years ago, but neither of them got further than a couple of chapters.  I’m already on Chapter 7 of this story, so I have high hopes that it will turn out better!  Like I said, I’m having a blast writing it, and I hope that you’ll enjoy it!  The first three chapters are online for you to check out:  http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/hpbsb.html  If you give it a try, please let me know what you think!

April 5th Updates

In case it wasn’t obvious (or in case you didn’t click far enough to figure it out), the story I posted on Sunday was an April Fool’s joke.  (And if didn’t see it and want to check it out now, it’s linked in the About the Site section.)  But I do have a new story for you today, for real.  It’s a short story that I wrote for the April challenge at Absolute Chaos.  In honor of April Fool’s Day, the challenge was to pick out an over-the-top “foolish” idea from a list Mare made up and write it in a way that makes it seem believable.  I went with “The Backstreet Boys battle killer monkeys from outer space” idea, and the result is my new short story, “Hybrid.”  Check it out!  http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/hybrid.html

April 1st Updates

I apologize for the lack of updates last month!  March is always a busy month for me, and aside from not having time, I haven’t had much inspiration to write either.  I finally realized I should stop trying to force myself to work on stories I don’t really care about, stop pushing myself to write outside the box, and just stick to what I’m good at:  Nick cancer stories.  Those tend to be my best, most successful stories, so I think I’m just going to write those from now on.  I’ll keep going until I’ve given Nick every type of cancer there is.

That said, I’m debuting a brand new Nick cancer story today!  It’s called “Half the Man I Used to Be,” and Chapters 1 and 2 are up.  It can be found on the My Stories page or on a new page I’ve created just for all my Nick cancer stories, which I’m putting together as a series called The Cancer Carter Chronicles.  Check it out here: http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/cccmain.html  I hope you enjoy the new story!  Be sure to let me know what you think!

February 26th Updates

Rose and I have been productive this week – Chapters 95-97 of “Song for the Undead” are up!  Enjoy!

February 20th Updates

Sorry it’s been over a month since the last update!  I have to admit, I haven’t been writing much of anything lately.  Hopefully that will change soon.  In the meantime, “Song for the Undead” has been updated with Chapter 94, courtesy of Rose.  Rose’s story “Divine Intervention” is also updated with Chapter 6, and Ritz’s “The Other Side of Nick Carter” is updated with Chapters 19-24.  Enjoy!

Thanks so much to those of you who voted for me in the Felix Awards over on Absolute Chaos!  I won Best Drama/Angst Author and Best Thriller/Suspense Author, “Curtain Call” won for Best Drama/Angst Story, and “Watch Me as I Bleed” won for Best Short Story!  “Song for the Undead” also took runner-up for Best Thriller/Suspense Story, “00Carter” got runner-up for Best Collaboration, and Rose and I were runner-up for Best Collaborating Authors!  Thanks again for your votes!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRIAN!!!

January 16th Updates

As you can see, the site has been revamped!  I really wanted to go “back to basics” with a simple, light-colored layout that would be easier to read stories on, since that’s the whole purpose of this website.  I’m still working on getting all of the hosted stories updated, but everything else should be in working order.  If you click onto any pages that still have the old colors and don’t look right, try refreshing or right clicking and selecting Reload Frame. Depending on your browser and cookies, it may not have loaded the newest version of the page.  Please let me know if you encounter any broken links or pages that still don’t look right after refreshing/reloading.  I hope you enjoy reading on the new layout!

January 3rd Updates

New year, new chapters on old stories!  Chapter 11 of “Guilty Roads” has been posted!  Hopefully this is a good sign that I’ll be able to update this story a little more regularly now.  That’s my intention, at least.  For those who have been wanting an update on this one, I hope you enjoy the new chapter!

Also, I’ve added the story “Survivor” to my new eFic page, for anyone who wants to download it.  Susan’s story “Scared of Reality” will be coming soon!

Finally, don’t forget, there are just five more days left to vote for the 2011 Felix Awards, so if you haven't voted yet, click here to do so.  Also, those who HAVE voted, click the link above and make sure that you clicked "Finish" at the end of the survey to actually submit your votes. Otherwise, they won't count. If you did, you should just see a message that says "You already responded to this survey." If you forgot to hit Finish, it should take you back to the last page of the survey, where you can click Finish to send in your answers.  According to the mods at AC, a lot of people are forgetting to hit finish, so please double check – thanks! :)

January 2nd Updates

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I’m back with a story update and a brand new feature for the site.  Now that we’re in the year of the zombie apocalypse, with Infernal Friday approaching soon, “Song for the Undead” has been updated with Chapter 93.

Also, I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and decided it would be fun to read fanfic on it, so I created a new section of the site for eFics – fan fiction in e-book format that you can download and send to your e-reader.  Check out this page at http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/efics.  You can also access it from the Stories menu.  Right now, I’m only converting finished novels of my own and older, finished stories by authors who are no longer writing fanfic.  If you have any requests for other stories of mine (finished only) that you’d like to see converted, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to do it.  I hope to add more old favorites in the coming days and weeks as well.  If you’re interested in converting your own stories, check out the link at the bottom of that page for the program I use.

In the coming new year, my first priority, fanfic-wise, is finishing “Song for the Undead” with Rose.  My second priority is getting back into “Guilty Roads,” which was put on the back burner while I concentrated on “Curtain Call.”  Now that that’s done, I can focus on it more.  It’s a complicated story line, and it was just too tough to stay on top of it with so many other stories in the works.  I don’t plan to start anything new until I finish some of the old, so unless I’m hit with a really inspired idea, expect new updates on some older stories this year.   As always, thanks for sticking with me and coming to the site.  I can’t believe it’s been 12 years!

I wish you all a happy and healthy 2012!
